    Just came across these from the historic photos section of boards.ie

    Look at the photos of Dublin city centre in 1961 - such good quality, you are literally taken back in time. And of course, some interesting old classics.

    In the colour 1961 pics many of the vehicles have *ZA plates. Do your stuff carchaelogist - when did ZA begin and end!

    I thought it would be a lot longer than that! That means most of those vehicles were less than 2 years old!

    I notice a zw xxxx on the Black Morris van. Didn't realise that this was a series at the time, looks a little like the zv for the vintage.:P

    ZW would have been the original Kildare plate begining in 1904 and probably near the end of it's life when that van was registered.

    Presumably after that series finished, AZW, BZW etc, came in.

    IO.... was first introduced on the 12/03 and lasted until 6/53,

    ZW.... 6/53 until 4/63,

    AIO... 4/63 until 12/63,

    AZW... 3/76 until 7/76
