Peanut Oil

I'm on a diet and I'm trying out some new recipes just to keep things interesting. I've got what looks like a good one for some low fat chicken stir fry. Trouble is, it calls for peanut oil, which I'm having difficulty finding. Anybody got any ideas where I can pick some up in Dublin? I've been surfing around checking out alternatives, and the been recommended to substitute either sesame oil or 'canola' oil, which I'm told is a trade name for rape oil. Any opinions for substitutes?

My local Dunnes Stores have it. Worth calling into your local outlet.

Any Asian shop will have it as well i suppose.
Got mine at Lidl/Aldi once when they had Asian special buys.

An asian market should have it or failing that groundnut oil could be used and is what I have used when I've not been able to find peanut.

As far as I know groundnut oil is peanut oil, since the peanut is also called groundnut.
Groundnut oil is available in most supermarkets.

Peanut/groundnut oil is used because it has a high smoke point, ie it starts to smoke at a higher temp than many other oils.
Sesame oil has a nice taste especially if it is toasted then pressed not sure it would be good for frying, you could try grapeseed oil which is very light and has a high smoke point.

Where can one get canola oil? I've never seen it on any shelves to be honest...

Canola is known as Rapeseed oil on this side of the Atlantic.
not as common as in the US/Canada though

Ah ok, thanks for that. Where can I pick up rapeseed oil? I think I've seen it in Tesco's but I'm not too sure.

Health Matters doesn't have it, neither do Holland and Barrets.
