It certainly does grow stronger, 30 years on since i bought my first record, i am now going to more gigs than i ever did, esp abroad.
In the past 5 years, gone to over 60 gigs, most notable ones, Porcupine Tree, Hermano, Metallica, SOAD, Rush ( 13 times, including Toronto) and the never to be forgotten, Led Zeppelin reunion at the O2.

Ah yes, the old 'you'll grow out of it, it's just a phase' nonsense. Proof that it is nonsense. Great clip ;)

Hah, I got tagged with that one as well when I was 13 "He'll grow out of that phase"

Twenty years on, my appreciation of metal is growing strong. :)

Most do in fairness, only the lucky ones stay involved in the music in some way, either through being a fan, a performer or working within the Industry. More power to him!

That man should be allowed into every metal gig for free.

Still waiting for that maturity gene that would make me enjoy Bob Dylan, Tom Waits and Wry Cooder, like all my ageing pals..

Better still he should preform as a back up for metal bands with his decks. :D

My mum and dad said the samething - oh he will be out of this stage by the time he leaves school....20 years later and still listening to metal!

certainly in my case i think the timing of my interest in metal was good. i first got into metallica/g n' r in '89. granted a few big metal acts had played here before(top hat/sfx/mc gonagles etc) but with the opening of the point a lot more of the big US acts(aerosmith and the like) started coming here and there was the sunstroke festival( '93 & '95?). in 1992 i got to see metallica at the point,g n' r at slane and FNM at the point. 93 had biohazard,RATM and rollins band at the tivoli, great times. that just fueled the passion and it's never subsided despite some of my favourite bands splitting up or taking long sabbaticals.
