I know that it's not the healthiest option but could I ask everyone to nominate their best Fish & Chips in Dublin. I know that Burdocks will get many takers but are there any other places worth going the distance for?
A nomination for northside, city centre and southside would be great.

    thanks

Aldo's and Borza's are pretty good (Cornelscourt and Donnybrook respectively). To be honest i think Burdock's isn't as amazing as most people would have you believe, but anywhere with an Italian name usually does the job

last time i was in leo burdocks (christ church) it was pretty special... lovely fresh chips and a nice fresh peice of smoked cod... now i did have about 10pints in me... so that may have been a fator...

but in general i would say Café Ciara in howth does the best fish+chips in all the land.

No. Burdocks in Rathmines. The fish & chips plus the nicest staff you could wish to meet.

God, I'm getting hungry thinking about it. Is it wrong to have fish and chips for breakfast? :D

I think Borza in Perrystown (between Crumlin and Kimmage) is lovely.

You dont have to be pissed to enjoy a good kebab here.
(that would make a good ad for the radio!!)

The standard has definately slipped in the last while though. A few years ago, they really were great.

    1. Burdocks - Christ Church
    2. Beshoffs - Howth
    3. Apriles - Stillorgan
    4. Tony's - Graigcullen, Carlow
    5. after the first four it becomes irrelevant...

I dont eat fish myself- but I do love a good battered sausages and chips from beshoffs in Howth. Portion sizes could do with being a wee bit bigger- but deligh all the same!

Fusco's on Cork street has savage chips,
other than that christchurch Burdocks is way better than the other ones

The Aprile on the corner of Lennox Street does the best chips in dub, not sure bout the fish part though!

Apriles on South Richmond St, lovely chips and are open till mad late.
Fusco's on Meath St (it's not on Cork St as someone mis-posted)
    Beshoffs on Ballsbridge
Bistro at Leonards Corner and Clanbrassil St (my locals)
Gino's in Rialto and Burdocks at Christchurch, basically for lovely scampi.

For the more restuarant type fish and chips, it has to be the fish and chips in the Bull and Castle ar Christchurch. € 13.25 for the nicest battered haddock you'll ever eat and it's beer batter aswell :pac: also the home made chips/wedge yokes are amazing.

    not in any particular order:
    • Leo Burdocks (Christ Church & Phibsboro)
    • Golden Chip Phibsboro
    • Fucardis Capel Street

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 96 ✭✭cassiedoll

always has and always will be Burdocks near christ church. there was nothing like it. Getting chips and scampi all wrapped up in real newspaper.

i dont venture over to the southside much but between the age of 3 to 17...it was my favourite fish and chip shop

A notable mention for my old chipper; Matassa's in Tallaght.

Feckin' great food, especially the chips, sausages, fish and the tastiest chicken burgers known to man, well this man anyway.

Better than your Borza's and Macari's etc.

And now I feel homesick and hungry. :(
