Whale washed up on West Cork beach.

Pity about it not making it, according to experts it looked as if it was not well for some time. I wonder how the are going to dispose of it.

The council were apparently lifting it today, taking it to an incinerator in Waterford & cremating it.

Was down there at 5 today, its being cut up by hand. Half of it was gone not a pretty site

Was down there myself on the day getting some images for a paper, impressive size. I was talking to a fella I know from the area & he was saying the chains snapped when they tried to lift it whole from the beach

There was a 20ft mink beached not far from Courmac some months back which was well passed it's sell by date. That was not a pleasant smell.

Why do the authorities in these situations always appear to feel the need to make a big song and dance out of disposing of the carcase?
Not to mention the expense of transporting it for incineration or excavating a big hole for burial.

Why not tow the thing out to sea and let nature take its course, as happens with everything that dies out there without the benefit of media attention?

It was almost gone sunday morning. Was out there on sat evening, looked like fish mongers were cutting her up, there was only half of her left. Surprised the times didnt get any pictures.
