Guys I just got offered UCD in 2nd round offers! I am over the moon to say the least!!! Now...how do I go about finding a school????

I'l most likely apply next year...i think there will be more of a chance next year since the teaching practice won't count and everybody will be judged on academic qualifications which i think is a lot fairer!

I will re-apply for sure. My points are all from qualifications so hopefully if points remain the same or go down I mite get a bit luckier with the random selection.

I agree with you wolfboy I think it will be more fair next year; and when you think about it not everyone applying will have Masters etc so I reckon there will be more of a fair chance.

I have 43 points and would love UCD wish you could have given it to me ;)
I'll apply next year; I will kepp going until I get it it just kills me cos I really feel like I deserve it wish there was some other way of gaining entry :(

Wonder will there be more offers towards the end of summer ...

    Commiserations to all concerned.

On the other hand it could genuinely be a blessing in disguise if your subjects are crap anyway.

Having just finished the PGDE, I'm applying for jobs now with one joke of a subject. I'm definitely going to have to go back to uni and finish a degree at night (using two other subjects which I have to First Year). Many other recently finished PGDE students are applying for jobs with two mediocre jobs and struggling to make their CVs stand out. Combinations such as 'History and English' are ten-a-penny, alas.

If you have Irish or Maths you are in a much better position than most. But not with the Irish if Enda Kenny and Fine Gael gets elected.

Hey Guys (especially PeeF and Ellen33)

I'm really sorry to hear that you didn't get the offers you were hoping for......I remember the feeling from the 1st round.......just horrible. Hope you keep your chins up and try not to feel so down on yourselves......maybe try again next year, it'll be a totally different playing field.

Luckily and finally I have got my offer for NUIG........thrilled.

Thanks for your support and best of luck for the future,

    Take care,

    BB

Ok I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I think the person who might know the answer would be here since you probably have to do the same thing!

So I got stuff sent to me from UCC during the week, and I have to send back the Student Information Cards with the principal statement. Is the Principal Statement the form I received a copy of, that I and the principal had to sign with the student declaration on it or is it something else I have to get from the principal?

I went to UCD so I'm not entirely sure about the terminology used in other univerities, but I would imagine the 'Principal Statement' is a copy of the form (you would have received from UCC) signed by a school principal showing the details of your teaching practice arrangements.

I certainly never had to get any document from the Principal other than the college one I had to get filled out and signed about Teaching Practice arrangements. In UCD that was called 'Teaching Placement Details Form'.

I cannot imagine what other information the college could possibly require from the Principal at this stage anyway, but a quick call to the Education Department in UCC would confirm this better than I can obviously.

Hey guys, I was just wondering with the points-are places awarded to people with the highest points or is it like medicine where everyone above a certain threshold (45 or whatever) are selected randomly? I have 57 points so should that be enough to secure me a place? Also, with the PAC system do people still have to do interviews?

    thanks,

    Aoife

I would imagine with 57 points you should almost definitely get a place next year.
