So Jeff could be playing centre mid or left wing - i'm sure he'll be delighted. We may need a goal keeper - wonder how he is fixed for that

I have just gone through this thread to get a list of players.

This is the squad as I see it - if there is anyone else in or anyone is out, let me know

    Kayroo (CB)
    Jayminator (CB)
    Jackyback (R.MID)
    Tonc76 (RB)
    Careca (CB)
    Theresalwaysone (Def.Mid)
    Hectorjelly (FWD)
Trippie (Where do you like playing?)
    Shoutman (Def/Mid)
    Kweeveen (LB)
    Semibluff (maybe) captain (definitely)
DITpoker (GK, CB, CM, LW, FWD)
    Max Power (maybe) (CM)
    Requiem4adream (Where do you play?)
    aodea (CM)

Breifnie - are you available to play in goals again?

From the look of things there's a lot of competition for CM and CB. Could all CM and CB state any other positions they play.

We have no LW in our squad at the moment - although I think R4AD might be a LW.

Also last time I rotated teams and positions a lot. Would people prefer I play the strongest team available and stick to it best we can (unless we're running away with the match) or would people like me try guarantee games again?

Sorry Ricky, specialist position for me:D

I can, but seriously dislike, play at RB. Personally I'd prefer you to go with how things went last time. I know myself, Neil and Donal played the whole match but tbh that gave us a solid spine to build on. When Steve went off it left Donal a bit isolated in CM. I think we had a couple of solid partnerships down the spine of the team and you and Darragh up front the same.

Given the number of us who are CB's and CM's though it's pretty inevitable there'll be some rotation.

One thing I would say though. Whenever they have their 2 starting CM's on the pitch we should have our best 2 out there. That's where this game will be won and lost.

Donal had the last 10 minutes off - wuss got tired.

I will start with a lot of the same team as started last time with a few changes. For instance I may play a 4-6-0 to accommodate all the CM and CB and get rid of every other position ala G.Lane :pac:

Bollox to the bold bit. Strongest team. Soccer forum are getting their act together, so why should we try and be weaker?

Fúck that, go with the same team as last time except stick Jeff in instead of Sam or reshuffle to suit.

I dont see anyone making the fist team stronger with their presence besides Jeff. No offence to anyone obv, but people cant just expect to come into this side who have played games together (Ive been at all games bar one) and get a starting berth.

    Dropping yourself? How selfish?

I assume you are sticking tonc76 in for RT and Jeff in for Sam? Or switch Fran to the left and put Jeff there?

    That time of month steve?

There's a balancing act to get right. Yes we had a good/strong team last time.

We know Jeff is a good player from experience and yes the other guys are unknown to us. But anybody who knows football, knows it's a squad game. I know I can't play the 90 minutes as I am not fit enough. So we need a min of 12 players right there.

I haven't seen a few of the guys play before and while I won't start them, that doesn't mean they won't get a game. For example tonc76 had never come before the last game and now he's proven a very good rb.

What if you couldn't make it? We play 10 v 11? I think leave the motivation speeches to others :)

I definitely agree tonc76 proved himself a great addition but that was one player into the team. Too many changes and we risk losing the balance that we have found over the last few games. There is definitely room for changes but no need to wield the knife too severely.

    Breifne

    Tonc
    Kayroo
    Neil
    Kweveen

    Fran
    Theresa
    Donal
    Jeff

    Ricky
    Darragh

That should be the starting team.

Subs should only be used if needed. If they dont wanna come, then fine, dont come. It was fine everyone getting a run when we were finding our feet as a team, but now that the Soccer guys seem more up for it and are trying to improve we need to maintain the team.

If someone adds to that team, then I am in no way against them being slotted in where they will benefit the team as a whole. I know some of you will say "sure you've never seen me play", yeah thats true, but thats no reason for you to get gametime or start.

edit to say: IF I am a sub, I will still come.

    Jesus Id hope so....

Des was a good ref, good to hear.

edit to say: I know triblus is a very good player, and I can only assume you yourself are a good player with the bordeaux team and being the football fan you are. So right there, is act getting togetherness. You've sorted a massive part of your team already.

There is no balancing act, if you (plural, not you ricky) want to be guaranteed game time, organise your own team. No waltzing in here expecting game time or you wont participate, if you come down and dont get a game, or are not happy with your gametime then at least you have a proper case for the next match.

Yup we know Jeff will improve the team, so, he slots right in. Even if Sam was playing, we know Jeff would improve the team in CB or CF so we would need to reshuffle their too.

Also, yeah football is a squad game over a season. Over a single match, not nearly as much, 15 players will get us through this match easy, and even then some of them might not get game time if its done (imo) properly.

Our team is a bit all over the shop right now with changes from the last game and a few uncertainties. It's a bit of a mixed bag at the moment tbh.

Certainly not a straight forward as you guys have it.

Lads its still only a friendly match, I don't see why everyone shouldn't be getting at least 20 minutes.

One thing if it's a league game or whatever, but at the end of the day its just a bit of fun.

I'm possibly the least gifted football wise out of the lot of us, but I wouldn't be up for standing in the cold hoping to get on for a run about in a friendly match.

You've a case though, you've been at a few matches and have been involved from the start.

    RM yeah...

I'm talking from a general stand point theresa. It is never going to be the case where we have 10 subs, and until/if this team is entered into a proper league, I don't see why people would take it so seriously as to expect people to turn up to watch the match/get on if someone gets injured. When it's only a friendly and at the end of the day the main purpose of it is to have a bit of fun.

Yes it will always be more fun when you are winning, but its not as if we are ever going to be playing a world beating team.

Man United Vs West Ham at the weekend:

    Van Der Sar
    Oshea -- Vidic -- Ferdinand -- Rafael
    Scholes -- Carrick-- Giggs
    Ronaldo -- Berbatov -- Tevez

    4-6-0

Gotta say I completely disagree with theresalwaysone... at best this can be considered a social standard game of football, if 25 guys from the poker forum want to play, i;d suggest where possible everyone gets approx 40mins!!! share the wealth, i know if i was playing in a team that was 10-2 up i'd happily sit out 20-30 mins so someone can get a run... like donal apparantly did in the last game.

i also fully intend on injuring tribulus asap...

    oh... and... left mid... LOL

I think its a mix of both to be honest. Start with your best 11 and see how things go. If its tight, dont change things wholesale. If we are well up or well down then make the changes to give everyone a decent run/improve things. Its the age old problem, give everyone a run and keep them happy or play your best 11 and fcuk the begrudgers. As Jeff said, this isn't a league or a cup match, so I'd be guaranteeing everyone a run and I have no problem not starting or coming off.

For Ricky, I could play LF or LM if necessary.
