i understand that at 23 you become a mature student? i am now 22 and in first year in a Bsc , will i qualify as a mature student next sept? i will be 23 by then.. or does is go by the age you are when you enroll? and will that entitle me to back to education allowance? --thanks

I'm pretty sure it's from when you first enroll in the course. Also, you must be unemployed for a year to be considered for the BEA.

Yep, unfortunately you can't change your 'category' of student once you enter a course.
