Whirlpool Tumble dryer awz220 Not Heating

    All,

    Have a problem - Vent dryer not heating on it's cycle
    Heating element has resistance of 25 Ohms - so seems ok

    what else could it be?

    Check the thermostat and/or the thermal cut-out.

    thanks for that. Has a look it was the thermal cut-out. but not that one.
    The linked one is on the Exhaust outlet. The one that failed was directly on the heating element, element was fine.

    Of course Whirlpool or appliance direct don't sell the thermal cut out seperate.

    and the element in £79STG plus shipping, you can get a new dryer for 149 Euro!

    The cut out was rated for 298 Celcius - thought it was quite high.
    Found one on RS with a cut out at 250 Celcius (it is auto reset, not too happy about that)

    Now you have it taken apart give the machine a good clean.

    My tumble dryer has overheated twice (in about 11yrs or so) and blown the high temp cut-out stat, probably due to various filters etc not being cleaned properly after each use.
