The 2.8s didnt come out til the 80s,and thats an 83 reg?

It was imported in 1983, back then they gave you a new number when you imported a car up to the end of 1986 when the 87-C type numbers came out. That's a Cork county reg too by the way.

Nice car, but not a million miles Mercedes with this engine, as described by the seller. The worse engine in W123. Would be perfect with a Diesel under the bonnet.

Agreed. The 250 wasn't a good 'un. They are probably the least durable engine in the range. To be honest most of the problems are caused by over fuelling leading to premature engine wear.

I'd love an early Irish Jag, but I reckon the old adage "buy the very best you can afford" applies to these more than most cars.

My first boss had one of these.

We went on a trip to the big smoke in it once with him ( 100 miles e/w ), had to stop for petrol twice, then he dropped me off at home and proceeded to go backwards through a hedge in it on the short drive to his place !

    T'was fast though!

    Apparently just off wedding hire..:p

.........the add says its genuine Irish, 1973, yet that is a 1978 Dublin reg.

The Corsa should of course be UZV 496, 1985 Dublin, but somebody got its reg ar5eways........prolly been that way for years, and off the road since pre '93

The Capri 2.8i came out in 1982 as far as I know so dunno where the 1979 comes from, something iffy there.

Nice set of Torque Thrusts would do a lot for it!

They would certainly be nicer than the current set, although I was never a fan of aftermarket wheels.

    ..................I agree.

At that price it would have to be worth a look, if only I had the cash !

(The picture was probably taken in 1967 :D )

In general I agree but Torque Thrusts were used in a lot of pony cars for racing back in the day - you can still buy them new today. Here's an example (albeit not a very good one!)

Edit: Better Pic - these look the biz on any 'Stang or Camaro!

I saw that sell on ebay.co.uk for around 1600-1700 pounds, so that was the REAL bargain. It took months to sell also. Nice markup!
