    Studded tyres?!
That's going a bit overboard for our climate, isn't it?

And that steering wheel looks manky - chain smoker's car?

Probably a foreigner, most foreign countries are obligied to put on winter tyres in winter months! Although the studs are probably a bit of an over kill.

I noticed the excessive wear on the steering wheel alright, could be someone who turns the wheels with the palm of their hand lol.

Volvo used poor quality leather on their steering wheels of that time. It particularly shows up on lighter coloured interiors.

Our S70's wheel was already in a poor state at 40k miles.

It looks like the drivers door has been opened too far and did a bit of damage.
    Cheap to fix?

cheap to fix if you don't want it 100%
Must be shed loads of miles on that, they make very decent money, asking price suggests it's a heap.

Nice Merc for €800, engine looks like someone began to write their life story on it :D

Why is a 21 year old tired looking low specced 2.3l automatic 130ish bhp Merc bangernomics?

    I especially liked this bit:
I have exactly same make, model, year, colour Mercedes included in the price for spares have never needed to use it. Negotiable price.

2 for the price of 1?

Why is a 14 year old 4.4 v8 Lexus bangernomics?

Why is a 15 year Polo bangernomics?

    Why anything?

I'm guessing because the Lexus is reliable, powerful, smooth, insanely well equipped?
I'm guessing because the Polo is a cheap basic little run around that will serve as the perfect starter car for someone

I was asking why this car was bangernomics, not asking why other cars were bangernomics.

Again; Why is a 21 year old tired looking low specced 2.3l automatic 130ish bhp Merc bangernomics?

Because it's all about personal preference! I'd have that "tired old Merc" over the Lexus or the Polo.

    It is tired and old.

This could be argued to be bangernomics, you showed us an overpriced dirty, tatty tired old mercedes that has seen far better days, and then the only reason you could give for it being a bangernomics car is "because I like it".
