A good trailer for 380, but is it legal?

Imagine towing it behind a caddy.

Might not be legal but its fairly genius all the same. Good idea for converting old vans which are not economical to repair.

I can remember years ago when that used to happen to escort vans & also old An Post renaults.

I always fancied doing similar to a rusty MK1 Toyota MR2 to tow behind my MK1 MR2.

Why wouldn't it be? You may need an EB license but other than that?

Another throwback to the 1980's to go with the recession.

    Nice!

Only thing she's missing is leather interior but even still that be a fine bus for the money!

Would need full documented suspension rebuild front and back, new timing belt variator and water pump, thermostat, disks and pads, tyres and spark plugs at that price for a 12 year old 156. No mention of leather, no alloys. Way off the mark for bangernomics, and I love Alfas.

Can't remember if there was suspension work done recently, or when exactly the timing belt was done. But yeah, no alloys, no leather, and no aircon either. I don't think it was worth that much either, he'd want to be flexible on price if he ever wants to sell it.

A trailer over 750 kg needs to be braked, this thing has a parking brake only.

At a guess I'd say it weighs a good 500 kg empty, so once you put more than 250 kg in (and you would, big as it is), it's definitely illegal.

A bit lax to go to that level of trouble and not do the brakes, especially when the wheel side hardware is there.

95 Shogun. Looks fantastic for the year! Really clean inside also. Dunno if it counts for bangernomics as its a 3ltr, but its some car for the money! :D

Ehh. . . . why would you buy a UK reg and take it to your holiday home in Spain? surely spanish cars aren't that different in price? I don't know what the VRT would be, but you'd have to pay that on top of it. Also there is no MOT on it or tax so that is more money added on top of it. I'm probably overly pessimistic but I'd be wary about that one.

Sadly you're looking at €1300 VRT on that - assuming the seller can obtain you a replacement logbook.

Read the ad. I guess the picture with the snow is the alloys it is being sold with.

How are any of these cars bangernomics? People have started throwing in cars that are far from bangernomics here lately.

How much would this be worth running well with new test?

    Aren't they mad unreliable?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,418 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

I know they are not great anyway. Just seems reasonably cheap to me.

Wouldn't get a grand for it I reckon. As it stands if the sunroof has been leaking for the last year and a half it's only fit for the scrapyard.

How isn't the Lexus bangernomics? It doesn't have to mean the cheapest possible form of transport; this thread would be seriously boring if it did. It can just mean serious bang for buck.

True but the 114 is unbelievably far removed from bangernomics.

i know it RJ, i just saw the Lexus ad fisrt, and posted that, noticing the Merc in the background, which is a cool car in its own right. I subsequently saw he had the Merc for sale, so thats why i added it to my OP.

Only later as i continued browsing DD did i notice the other half dozen or so motors he's got up for sale, as E39MSport has correctly pointed out

@E39MSport - overpriced Lexus, yeah a bit, but we can't all get them as good & as cheap as you got yours ;-)
