Not sure what the rolleye are for - classic car insurance isn't a legal definition; it's just a product that some insurers might offer on certain cars. Would you not be more annoyed if they could only offer classic insurance on 30 year or older cars?

You'll have to check with the insurances. Different rules for each of them and some don't do classic.

Classic insurance has, as pointed out, NOTHING to do with the cars vintage status. It's up to the insurance company, what they offer.

Some jags, rolls, etc. are considered classic after 15 years. Most insurances that offer classic insurance require, that you have main policy somewhere (in some cases it has to be with them).

This has nothing to do with backwards country. Be happy, that the option for classic insurance exists at all.

    /M

it was more about the tax i was rolling the eyes. its something iv read on boards actually about 20 yrs old being the usual age to make the car a classic but the car has to be over 30 yrs old for classic road tax.

The VRT on that is going to be at least the cost of the purchase. Not much of a bargin when you add it in.

Yep, no NCT either obviously. And the tyres will be looney money too.

VRT isn't THAT bad and I'm sure the car could be got for about 500-600 euro less as well.
Looks like a lovely car and I'm sure it's very comfortable.

And it's a luxobarge so the tax is always gonna be high.

My spine is whimpering at the sight of the low profile tyres on those 19" rims on the Lexus! Why, anyway?

The driver's seat on the E240 looks to have well more than 105K on it too.....

    Not your ornery onager

Agreed but who cares? The W210 is one of the most comfortable cars out there and for a bit over a grand with 2 years NCT and an autobox it would tick all the luxobangernomics boxes for me :)

There's one thing you should always note, if a Mercedes seat is worn, the owner either wears a jacket made of sandpaper or the car has galactical mileage on it!

I'd nearly buy that Corrado but I dare not ring due to the fear of having the piss taken out of me :L

Corrado looks decent but the paint looks like it might be a bit dodgy on the bonnet...still €950 for a corrado with a service history is fairly decent money...

I'd hazard a guess that PJ works in N4cars, a quick snoop shows this:

    The micra: http://www.carzone.ie/search/Nissan/Micra/1.0-5DR-/201111201675897/advert?channel=CARS

    The Merc: http://www.carzone.ie/search/Mercedes-Benz/E-Class/E200-1-O/201111201675883/advert?channel=CARS

No sign of the Corrado though...
