Jeez, he could have took a bucket and sponge to it before taking close ups of the wheels, could be worth a look at €500.

i know, and the white paint was so clean.

And judging by the steering wheel, he's used that horrible shiny sh1t so loved by small time dealers. Truly rotten slimey stuff. Wrong engine too!

A friend of mine is after getting an S320 LWB (95), tested for 6 months (The fella who I sold my E200 to).

It's black, ex-ministerial, full black leather, every extra (bar sat nav) double glazed windows etc.

I drove it yesterday and my god it has made me so very very tempted to buy one. The only problem is I've a slight incline into my estate and I couldn't manage more than 9mpg coming up the hill! That said it cost him 15€ to drive from Portarlington down to Limerick :) I'll try get pics

Fabulous car, I drove a 95 s320lwb few years ago. Probably light years ahead of todays recyclable rubbish with shiny new number plates. Id say in 500 v8 form it would be astonishing. Look very classy if there are no dents and with the chrome polished up.

It's probably one of the cleanest S320's of that era that I've seen, it really is immaculate.

I was in but didnt drive the next gen S class. I wasnt as impressed as the previous model. I think they called it Mercedes tribute to a cathedral. Unfortunately fuel efficiency and environmental concerns took their toll. Id definately consider buying an old s500 in a year or two as a toy. Tax it for 3 months or whatever whenever I feel the urge for a 'real' car.

The 320 lwb I drove really was fab, but tbh it was definately underpowered. If you get one do yourself a favour and get the 500. Same roadtax, ok a little more fuel but who is counting at this level anyway. The 600 would be real nice (v12) but its no faster and much higher maintainance /rarer so harder to find a good one. They really are hundred grand cars for a couple of bags of sand. True bangernomics.

They can be quite unreliable actually once the milage piles on, and they are no Toyota Corolla or Ford Fiesta to keep on the road. I was offered one free recently with a terminal engine fault and less than 150k miles (about half the service life of your average repmobile!), I declined it!

When you say unreliable what do you mean? Irish cars are a very bad yardstick to judge reliability. Oils never changed in engine or wrong oil used etc etc. They last forever looked after with wear part replacement ie suspension bushes etc. They are big heavy cars so are always going to eat brake discs, pads, bushes, shocks etc . The air con can be a problem though I know, the evaporator needs the dash taking out.

This car needed an autobox. This was replaced at the cost of about 5k. Then the loom caught fire, and this was fixed. For a finish, the timing chain slipped, and while I'm not completely sure as to the extent of the damage, I didn't care enough to find out.

Again, the car had moderate miles, and was looked after.

i'd say it would surprise you just how much driving is still left in that car! could easily do that kind of mileage again if you treat it right!

The 17 k miles could be genuine ...the catch could be that most of them were accumulated in first gear, with the engine screaming to the high heavens and the clutch sending smoke signals :D

How can they promise a full NCT? It's a 2000 reg, so the NCT expired sometime last year. If it passed the test today, it would only be valid till sometime next year - so not a full 2 years!

they never promised two years... just a full NCT.... for that car the full NCt would be 1 years.....

Again probably shoddy maintainance. The auto box needs its fluid changing every 60k miles according to most specialists. The timing chain slipping was probably because a worn tensioner wasn't replaced on schedule either. I know nothing about the loom catching fire, could be anything from bad suspension work or an aftermarket installation damaging the loom, also $hit justhappens sometimes.

I doubt Id buy an Irish one without seeing documented history to show things like the above were done, but I suppose for a grand or two one could take a gamble:D

Actually looks very tidy. There is a possibility that it is genuine. Only if one owner car though.

They are the L Series engine which was a Rover unit.

The Honda Accord that's it's based on used it as well, but they are very rare.
