No catch. The engine is 2.4l, that's all. Anything over 2l and you have to give it away in this country...

    One for those with patience

Patience is required, as this diesel has all of 75 horses.
On the other hand, this looks and sounds well looked after and said patience should be rewarded with at least another 300.000 trouble free miles. And if after all that time diesel should finally run out, you can just change to old chip fat and keep on going :D

was going to get tomorrow a '99 1st gen V70(boxy shape) for the same money but now this came up. Not sure though which version of V70 is better. Both having 2.4 petrol engine. Maybe someone can share some opinion.

Tax is €600 ish on a 2.0 so not too expensive, my 2.5 1992 e class returned an average of 37mpg over 3000 miles so the 43mpg + quoted by the seller in the add is quite believable. With a fresh NCT it may well be cheap to run for the next lash of miles.

I wouldn't pay over a grand for it though.

Looks like he's selling his 2 cars and a speedboat. Thought he was a dealer from the number of times his mobile showed up in google.

Sounds genuine enough. Nice car them.

You see this is the drawback with Bangernomics.
For all you people looking to go down the bangernomics route - -be careful what you post on the internet.
I made the fatal mistake of asking for advice on here about a T4 Volvo. I didn't post the link but within minutes someone posted up the link with a :D thinking it was all a good laugh.
My mistake. I was on route to look at the car (half way up the country) the following night and I received a call from the seller that his brother had sold the car. I had a hotel booked close to the car and lost out on that too. Not to mention petrol costs, blah blah blah.
Anyway, moral of the story, people will gladly just look at the cars that are good value that are posted up here and buy them from under your nose.
So, just be careful about what you post.
It is an internet site after all and the whole idea is that we can all see the value out there.
The next car I went to see, I kept stump.

Plus, if it's a really good value car, it will most likely sell within a matter of hours, so you have to move FAST!

When I was looking for a bangernomics car last year, anything that was good value that I called up was already sold. Even ads that were less than 8 hours old!!

In the end, I got a cheap A4 Quattro in the UK for less than €2k  The winter snow was GREAT FUN :p

The guy with the 7 series sells the odd car and he had one listed on polish site too. I figure there might well be an issue or two with that car.
