This is the Bangernomics thread! That makes this car 3200 quid over budget with a steering wheel on the wrong side and pile of VRT left to pay nevermind the fact that it will breakdown more often than an ex Gulag prisoner will at the sight of snow :D

VRT + roadtax will probably make that well over budget.

My apologies to post this into wrong thread. Wasn't familiar with the rules.
Other than that your comment had put the smile on my face :) Can you backup your words? Do you have any facts about the breakdowns of Quattroporte? Did you owned one? Otherwise it just sounds like a typical smart comment of VW user. :)
I own this generation Quattroporte myself and I know this particular car. Went to Sligo to see it back on 2007. Owner is a real car collector. Every car is in mint condition. I tested this one. Other than a little rust on the roof (Ireland + Italian metal) and drivers seat which needs a little recondition car is technically sound. Performance is incredible. Plates and paperwork is Italian but in owners name (He is half Italian half Irish if I remember corectly).
Not sure what condition is this now but mine in 3+ years ownership hasn't brake down not at once.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Dodgy business that Italian plated Quattroporte. Was is exported legally? It is very hard to properly export a car from Italy, even into another EU country.

What's a 2l engine doing in a big luxobarge car like that? What is it, a 4 pot?

Must be one of those low Italian tax specials, a bit like a BMW 316i in Ireland :D

Does anyone realise you are not insured as an Irish resident to drive a foreign registered car for a length of time? If the owner is such an enthusiast, why is he one of those Alpha / Ferari merchants?

Edit: quick google showes that the 2l biturbo was indeed an Italian special :D Fair play though - about 280BHP from a 2l V6 engine 15 years ago is some achievement.

All my respect to you as a mod but what you just said was so blonde :D
This Maser is 1995, one of the first 4th gen Quattroportes. Yes ir is 2-litre engine but Maserati Bi-Turbo supercharged engine and not some VW lawnmower.
According to this one, AFAIK it is a part of his collection and is no for daily use here around.

That doesn't look great value to me. A tatty condition, 15 year old executive car, with a piddly little 1.8 engine at over a grand is quite dear.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,122 ✭✭✭pcardin

Yap, 1.8 is IMO a "please-avoid" engine for e34. Too weak for that body.

Also no mention of the mileage. Still, €750 would probably get you it.
