No mention of tax or NCT. But if it has a few months of each i'd be tempted for that money.
Reason for selling = "life style change" or a quarter of a million miles on the car is closer to the truth.
While those engines have a brilliant reputation and are very durable 254,000 miles on the car that is 19 years old......
    I'd leave it off tbh.

I wouldn't bother judging this particular car based on the mileage without closer inspection. The condition is all that matters.

Yes of course, I completely agree. In fact I would I would be a fan of high mileage cars that are in good nick.
I just think that 250,000 miles is a lot on a car - even if well looked after. But as you say, depends on the condition of the car. The ad doesn't do it any favors either mind you, which went some way towards my original comment.

True, and I can't understand why there are no interior photos. They could tell a lot about the car and its condition. I used to have a very same car with higher mileage than the one advertised, but it was in great condition and if you seat inside, you would never believe the mileage. Technically it was great as well and good for twice the mileage IMHO.

I know it's parked on uneven ground ...but still ...the self-levelling rear suspension seems a bit broken (not a cheap fix either)

Not too much info given, but a '00 BMW520 with NCT for €900, with less than 100k on the clock too

Sold. Apart from the wheels, it still looks to me that it would be a rough car in the metal.

Find one at that price with a two year test that isn't much older than it and most folks would.

Cheaper on insurance? Not by much I'd reckon. Any young person. Is going to have there insurance loaded. My first insurance was on a starlet @ 800 euro and a polo wasn't going to be much cheaper then that.

What the polo has going for it, that it is very well screwed together, very solid little car and doesn't depreciate too much at this age

I drove one for two years at 19, was faster than a 1.4 golf, although that wouldn't be hard!!

You would be surprised..:) Insurance companies like to see quotes for a standard 1.0L car. Tax is only 150 a year too. There is some amount of that model Polo on the road still.

Looks well and 3.0 tax isn't the highest.

Has this made it in yet?

    Volvo v70 2001 €1000

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/1961599

NCT almost out and high enough mileage hence the price maybe?

C220 cdi, 144k miles and 6 months nct for 600 euro, couldn't be too bad.

It is not a CDI, it is a normally aspirated C220 Diesel with the rubbish Lucas injection pump.

I'd be nearly 97% I know that car, and if it's it, it's got more lights that a Catholics christmas tree :L

As long as the timing belt has been done in the last 12 months.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,728 ✭✭✭Col200sx

I'm sure there's gotta be a catch with this.

2000 BMW 528, NCT for a year, 85,000 miles, serviced and timing done, M-pack alloys for only €1,100

I assume that's the catch, you can tax the much nicer 728 for that money!

And i'd say it's rough enough. You can see the bodywork isn't in the best of shape. There's been plenty of mint looking 728s on this thread for similar cash.

Yeah, there's two dents on the passenger side, more hits than Elvis I'd say :pac:

Yeah, but there's a nice amount of power in the 528 while the heavier 728 is sluggish and undepowere in the standard form.

Who buys a 728 for power... Or even an N/a 2.8 5series for that matter :P

You know what I'm trying to say!

There's plenty of get up and go in a 528, in a 728 there's not. Hell, my old 523 was more responsice than a 728 I looked at.

:o Didn't spot the passenger side dents.

Actually since I posted that, price has gone down to €999
