It doesn't state an NCT, but that doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't have one.

It still looks really tidy though and is probably the cheapest 850 to run.

    Spot on.

A very worthy contribution to the bangernomics thread in my opinion.

I dunno, why have all the work done (stated in the ad) and not get NCT done? If I wasn't going to bother with an NCT, for an old tub like that, why bother getting anything done.

Exactly. Chances are it actually failed the NCT and is now an economic write-off. That's what the skeptic in me tells me anyway :D

I wouldn't touch a car like that with a bargepole unless I had an NCT failure sheet

If you ring the seller and ask him for the date of first registration you can go into the Ncts website and check if it was nct'd recently ;)

As can I. In fact I've often missed mine.

Great chassis, handling, economy, reliability, nice styling (not going to set the world a light but it doesn't age too bad)

Everyone thought the were boring but I had some great times in mine and it was well able to take corners and loved being thrown around on a back road.

Most people who say they are boring have never driven one

Way too expensive imo, worth €900 tops

Long nct, bombproof engine and 0-60 in 8seconds ain't bad though.

Very easy to turbocharge if you were so inclined.

Looks a lot faster than it is :D

    On a budget of €1,800, I'd rather buy that A6 2.8 V6 and pay for a years tax :)

It mightn't look much, but apparently they are a very dynamic car.

same block as a s14 i think, just missing a turbo. Im sure with the amount of wannabe drifters floating around you could pick up a turbocharger for breaking on donedeal for cheap enough, maybe.

I think i just have a thing for unusual japanese cars. :)

Ive driven a 1.6 one of those and I cannot think of anything good to say. It was so slow that really I could only laugh and It used rather alot of oil too.

Granted mick these cars were a little underpowered with the 1.6. couldn't be faulted for reliability though. The 1.8 was probably a better version or the 2.0 sr, but in any event you probably were just unlucky to end up with bit of an oil thirsty dud.

God no, I didnt own it. I drove it a few times and honestly I did laugh out loud at the lack of any sort of acceleration. Guy who owned it said it drank oil.

The ole lad drove one as a taxi for a few years, a 98/99 1.6 petrol, between himself and the lad who owned it the car was ran for 100 hours/week. Dad gave up the taxiing in 2004 ish but the car was still going strong up until two years ago. Wasn't an oil burner. Was no slower than an LX Mondeo, 1.6 Petrol Vectra or anything else it competed against.

Generally the 4afe thats in that avensis didn't burn oil like the later vvti engine that was in the avensis fom late 00 on. If well kept the 4afe was no oil burner but if driven hard they did like a drop but not enough to fail the emissions.

If she hasn't had the hole driven out of her, mightn't be a bad yoke.
Wouldn't pay more than €900 though.

I would love to know how many owners this car has had
Its been on donedeal at least 5 times in 2 years, originally a polish guy selling it.

Is this pic to demonstrate boot capacity or just laziness?

might be better suited to the dreamers thread..

To demonstrate the boot is too small for the weekly shopping :D

Are they actually that quick? Kinda like that actually, the brother has the same generation 1.6 primera & although its fairly slow it does actually have a nicely balanced chassis.
