Yep - Luckily we've a long driveway as we live in the country. It was beside the road. The battery died two days ago - I was trying to push start it, didn't work. Brother was coming out today with jump leads. So it was left at the end of the driveway in front of our gates, off the road.

    ****! What happened?

Looks like some nice young gents tried to take it away - discovered the battery was dead and after a bit of discussion they must have felt flame orange would suit the car better than the wine colour it was.

Hardly much point ruining an NCB for a car of such value is there?

Jesus, thats desperate! As LM said, I hope Karma will run its course.
On the up side - at least you didn't loose a fortune on the car. Insurance should pay out on fire alright.

A bangernomics car was vandalized on me also a few months back - I left it overnight in a car park and came back the next day every every single window was smashed. It wasn't worth fixing.

    Sorry to hear OP.

Full BMW service history is encouraging but no mention of the condition of the turbo.

Insurance was third party only - Sure even if it was 3rd,fire&theft i'd say the excess would be greater than the cost of the car.

If this isn't a scam it's well worth it, surely a scam though.

A fine car, looks mint and a very good ad that would insprie confidence in the seller.
Thats the way ads should read imo.

It's a good ad apart from this arrogant nonsense at the end:
Would suit enthusiast or someone who knows their Alfa Romeos... not the usual abused 5 owner car for €1000 commonly seen advertised but still priced to sell at €1750.

    Only serious buyers please.

No mate, it's an 11 year old , Italian, imported (i'd say by the high reg), manual petrol estate, with no mention of a service history- you can't really be that selective

And if he's being so picky, he could have at lease emptied all the crap out of the boot before he took the photos :D

12519 is high for cars in Kildare in the year 2000??? Considering well over 100000 sold in Dublin that year (for the novelty of the 00 plates)....Don't think so mate.

In my defense, I did say that bit was guesswork. The rest I stand by. :D

Most importantly, no mention of the when the dreaded Cam Belt was last changed. Any self proclaimed Alfa enthusiast would never accidentally forget to mention this critical detail, methinks it must be due or overdue.

Pretty much evereything else can be taken as it comes on a 156 without fear of wipeout, thermostat, wishbones, rear transverse arms, even the variator, a couple of weeks or months and they'll be little more than a minor irritation but hold out on the Cam Belt for even a little while and you're toast.

Beautiful car all the same :)

You'd want to bring an airflow meter to make sure it's not the turbo that's shot. Also a black car + water = **** paint.

I could guarantee without leaving my seat that's a pile of crap.

2000 for a 99 GS300 yeh could probably get one for cheaper, but this one looks spotless full service history, NCT,d and with low mileage.
