Saw that yesterday, just NCTd, looks well worth a look, interior of them can be very ratty without leather though.

With residuals so low, they're an economic write off for the want of a new set of tyres.

Indeed, cam belt and a set of tyres and NCT due and you'd be opening the packet of hob nobs and having a right good think about it.

Any sub €1k car is bordering on being an economic write-off in that situation!

To be honest, I think they're some of the main reasons cars why get scrapped. Most cars will keep on going forever if you maintain them.

If old cars in this country had any sort of residual value then I could guarantee that we would see a lot more.

I'd say that is one of the oldest Irish E32's remaining.

I reckon the NCT in 2000 put a lot of these big late 80's/early 90's cars off the road.

Indeed. And if having a valid NCT was strictly enforced, a helluva lot more cars would be scrapped - for the same reason.

    Loves those old yokes

Weird that the seller has 'chaser and s15' as the quick search words.
Lists the brake calipers in the features
Also has a fiat as a second car it seems

Don't know if this really belongs here but it looks good if the mileage is genuine

Looks minty but is €2650 not a little hefty for a 10 year old van!?!

Wow that's clean! But not at 2650

WANT PHONE IN CENTRE CONSOLE :D

Buy it just for that and then wonder what to do with a car I cannot afford to insure. 750i ffs.

Nissan almera, 320, lil' tax and longish nct. http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/2536172

Yeah saw that ad on donedeal today. Amazing car for the money. Buy it, tax it for a full year and insure it. Sell it near the end of next year for €500 and it will have cost you €3k plus petrol for the year. That's a lot less than any of those new sh1tboxes from Korea would have cost ya in depreciation alone for the year!!!

An 80s mullet is more desirable than a centre console phone in an E38, trust me. That said, there seems to be a weird following in this country that lusts after these retard built in phones :D

Funny country we live in anyway. Back when this E38 was new, less than 1 in a thousand of the people had a mobile phone. 10 years later, 98 out of 100 people had a mobile :)

Ireland went from poorest to richest to poorest in the EU in 15 years. Shocking really :)

I dunno about that, someone doing 200 miles a week could easily spend €4000/€5000 in petrol over the 12 months.

My 'lil comparison wasn't including fuel cost ;)

    I see :).
Including it sort of makes the car a tad unviable for many motorists though :pac:

I'm leasing out my sig space, it can't be too big, have an advertisement in it or be too animated though :)
Someone will take it eventually though :pac:

Not for the many of us who do little mileage :) Some people on boards, yourself included, are able to take in arguments and can handle calculations, but the majority of people in this country can not handle looking (even a fraction of a millimetre inch outside the box :D)

But agreed, if you are a masochist doing massive mileage, a base spec Octavia 1.9 diesel would be the torture of choice :D

My father has 11,000 kms on a 1.5 year old Scirocco, he's never owned anything more than a 1.6... Sad state of affairs, he should be driving that v12!

'twould be some yoke to have, I'd love to roll into a race meeting in that with a big cheap cigar in my gob (a tobacco filled one as opposed to a purple one in case any AH type folk are lurking)

certainly not glamourous bangernomics but, new clutch and timing belt, a small bit of tax and a relatively low mileage for a diesel, all yours for 700 quid, i reckon it would tidy up nice.
