Sorry to see that there are vulchers all over it already for parts.

Given the unusual spec, there is a few quid in breaking that surely.

Nice car. Surely he will get fairly close to asking price for it.

Only market for it is to break it, probably a car with the smallest market possible in this country, would be better off over in the Uk.

    Bargain anyone? :)

Worth about that with a decent test and running well. Maybe 1500 quid at max. While it might represent a bargain running it most certainly does not with a f&^Ked ECU and a its own eco system growing inside it. It really is junk except to a die hard fan but Bangernomics it aint.

    +2

It's not nice not to be nice, but the water damage makes the car junk

    Two potentially decent 406s...

15 months test with her but back box needed, you'd get one handy enough I reckon.

Shorter test, but recent service and belt.

Neither are especially cheap but they'd offer someone that does the miles 50 ish mpg in comfort, the silver one especially looks very straight and presentable.

and for folks not doing lots of miles..

Doesn't look minty and the tires don't look new to me but the pics may not be 100% recent, over 2 months tax, nearly 18 months NCT. Only thing is I reckon the detailed 173,000 Kilometres could well be miles as the car isn't a japper so why anyone would advertise the miles like they have is beyond me.

Olivia may well accept €500 for it.

    Fair enough
You win some you lose some.
I misread the advert ( well.Read it in a rush) and missed the water part and the ecu :(

    Ah well,
I may be in for a few parts off it myself :pac:

Very clean looking Polo for 320 with NCT til 2013. http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/2561783

And a wee 01 van with 3months DOE for 500. Could be handy for shifting something... http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/commercials/2561730

VW polo classic with a 1.9diesel, NCT and a bit of tax. Also, genuine milage. 420 for economical motoring for a wee bit. SDI :)http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/2559661

Expensive. Near enough 190k miles on it. That's near 300k km. Although I have heard many good stories about the reliability of those engines. Good mpg though but high enough tax.

Have also heard good things about the HDi engine but as you said mileage is getting to the time where big jobs will have to have already been done or be done soon.

But of course it is at that mileage when many important service items will have already been done so it could be a bargain so... assuming you got it for around 1k..

I'd say there's two years of average mileage driving left in her. A yoke thats got that far has most likely been minded so it wouldnt scare me of completly. 7 or 800 quid max though.

Wow! The drivers seat has held up remarkably well for 245k miles!

That's where the non moving arse goes, I'd love to see the bolster. Although, the same car with 100.000 miles of in and out city driving could be worse!

Is it wrong for a 26 year old to be tempted by this?! :o

I've an exceptionally good price agreed for my own car and was about to buy a 318Ci and then decided it was going to be a money pit. Could buy this (800ish) and tax it and have money left for insurance for what I'm getting for my own car.

    Do it for the craic..

Seriously though if not doing big miles it could be ok, and it's diesel so fuel won't be too bad!

A Rover 75 is a far more credible car in my eyes for a 26 year old than any pissy four pot 3 Series.

My miles are almost exactly the same as the guy selling it, working in Dublin and home to Cork at the weekend. Heading for Oz in June-ish of next year though.

    I'm tempted because:
    • The spec is huge
    • I'm getting an outrageous price for my car
    • It hasn't been under much stress driving up and down the motorway
    • My car is not built for the motorway (1.3 petrol Corolla) and I'm sick of putting petrol in it!
    • It's different.

    Reasons against:
    • 245k miles.
    • Am I doing enough miles to justify a diesel; 16-18k per year??
    • My Corolla will still be an easy sell in 9 months time whereas this may not.

    agree.

    its cheap and cheerfull.

there was a stage in my life when i wanted rover 75 more then my next breath. i was 22 or 23 back then.

4 pot beemer is not a beemer.

... and then the fight started... :D
