    hi limerick man

well wear as its smashing motor. not to sure if the aero's are affected by the dreaded "SLUDGE " issue that the 95's 2.0litre engines suffered from but worthwhile checking it out as failure to remedy will lead to a blown engine :( . Initial indications are a high pitch whine from the top of the engine nearest the bulkhead when starting from cold ( which most incorrectly diagnose as a pulley bearing on the way out) when in actual fact it the oil been sucked through the partially blocked oil sump filter and starving the upper engine of oil flow.

If the service history show that only fully synthetic oil has been used all the time then you are unlikely to suffer the sludge issue but forwarned is forearmed ;)

deffo drop over to the following sites to check it out and i look forward to seeing you there:

    http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/index.php

    or

having been a Volvo man myself for a long time ( 240's 850,s70 and S80) i bought a Saab 95 a while ago and loved it . this was recently sold to fund buying a 1998 9000 anniversary 2.3 fpt :D:D:D:D:D. which goes like the proverbial sh*t off a shovel with comfort to match.

keep us posted of the mods

all the best and keep it between the ditches

Nice one. Saw another blue 00D one in a dealer somewhere in Ballymount a few weeks back, 1950 they wanted, new turbo had only gone into it. Always like the coupe good work.

Always liked these cars and never understood why they were slated so badly. You would need somebody to tell you they were based on the original Vectra.

There is a well known issue with these with the bulkhead cracking. Symptoms are supposedly judder while accelerating and creaking when steering from lock to lock.

Looks like a minter anyway, best of luck with it!

Saw a 22k miler gray 93 aero which had been garaged from new and barely used(with proof of this) for somewhere around 3-4k this time last year.

If only it wasn't auto :(

Nice car! There's free software you can get to tune the Saab ECU yourself.
    If only it wasn't auto

    Auto? Gimme!

What year was it ?, the auto is great in SAAB.

It was either 01 or 02! Only have the e-mails from the seller, no pics or saved ad :/

Absolutely lovely though, love the 93 aero wheels and the gunmetal grey on the 93 is gorgeous.

    5door and all!

Btw, 93 aero -> 93 viggen. The viggen had a hilarious amount of problems.

I guarantee you that'll most likely end up on the banger circuit.

that would be a shame, although the straight 3.0 litre twin over head cam engine packs a punch, three modes on auto box, just press that S floor it and let her rev out up through the auto box, never gets old :D
ahhhhhhh just noticed mine is out of tax since start of this month, thats gonna cost me almost 400.00 to tax it tomorrow, just for 3 months!!!!!!! cars only worth that, i might retire it soon, store it for 50 years lol

Fcukin' hell, I was just about to post that.

Bloody lovely car and I'd nearly be tempted if we didn't have so many cars.

Nah, it's far too nice and new (for a banger), no banger racer would have the heart to sabotage something like that. I hope.:(

I'm a big fan of the 960's myself. If there ever was an underrated and overlooked car, this is it.

My uncle had one of the Lord Mayor's old ones (94-D-1) and it was a glorious car. I remember that 'kickdown' mode you speak of and it really went like the clappers once engaged, producing a lovely roar from that straight six engine.

He sold it to a taxi driver and that's how it ended its life judging by mywheels, which said it was last taxed September 2006.
