550 euro, Nct 5/13 Tax 10/11 Fsh, admittedly it's 1.6 petrol but it has to be a bargain, I had a diesel one and the early ones are no way as unreliable as people make out

I linked this a few weeks ago! Looks like a very solid motor for the money if it's straight! :D Really like that colour too..

Ok firstly, take not, this is NOT a proper bangernomics car, just posting it here as people often post various massive old barges including many LS400s (a lot of those without either of the bangernomics requirements of either tax or test and it has an NI reg but anyway....). This is just for the sake of a few people seeing it, at present it does not qualify but it is a bit of an oddity, in this country at least and this thread is probably the best place in the main motors forum to discuss an unusual old car found for sale on the internet.
Just for general interest here it is

    Lexus "ES300"

Yea... not havin this one I'm afraid

Is this a car you're looking to buy? Rather than a bangernomics car? If so just start a new thread:

multitronic is chain driven cvt which is great when it works, particularly on a diesel.

Tiptronic is a normal box I think. Dunno what that one Is. Horrid colour too.

Multitronic is known as the multitragic by dealers! Not sure if it was ever fitted to the A4 though.

    It's Multitronic for definite.

Avoid the multitronic. It's well known for gearbox problems.

Between the gearbox, the colour, the spec, the fact that it's a 2.0 petrol engine with very average performance etc. I don't think I'd be interested in it, bangernomics or not.

    Meh

    I think that's 'multichronic'.;)

I've yet to see a car fitted with it that has given trouble other than the TDI models, and the only reason they fail in them is because of the torque (yes, I am serious).

I shouldnt. Its the worst engine in the 9-5, monster tax, its not even quicker than a 2.0t...... but if it came at 6 or 700 quid it would be some yoke for the money.

It's faster than every engine other than the Aero, dunno where you're getting your figures from :)

These are also supposed to be lightly turbocharged, aren't they?

It is but it isnt, not in the real world. Yeah sure it'll go faster flat out in a straight line and its 0-60 might be a touch better off the mark too. But in reality all that extra weight doesnt help it in the 30-70 dash as you go to over take something and it takes to a corner like a 9 year old child does to a bowl of tripe, it'll just scrub off all of its speed there.
