That's a real bargain. The Miller cycle engine in it is interesting too.

Great spec for €700 . The tow bar would be the first to go .

It seems a bit dodgy, there are about 10 ads on done deal for it with reducing prices

It sure is a real bargain at €700 with NCT into 2011!

Not really a car I would aspire to owning though. Very bland in every way except the engine set up :D

That said, it is a bargain!!!

They would be hard enough to shift I'd imagine, 2.5 petrol auto . Limited market as well since it’s not a “luxury brand” They would need to be cheap to attract any interest.

The miller engine is the 2.225l engine, this is an n/a 2.5l producing around 170brake and painfully slow, even as barges go!

True that, but the auto is awful thirsty...

I saw my w124 passing me today in twilight (I sold it to a friend) awful sickening, I don't know why I sold it!

As for the mpg on the Saab, I can't tell yet, I'm not driving it until I tax it at the start of next month, that gives me a full week of playing with the engine :P

Nah, it's far too nice and new (for a banger), no banger racer would have the heart to sabotage something like that. I hope.:(
    .

Oh yes they would. Sure there's pics somewhere online of a load of lads racing a Mercedes 600!

I think the Saab will be the new Octavia around here :P

That Saab ain't Bangernomics territory imo, especially with their well known oil sludge problems.

They are an awful lot of car for the money, making pittance. Great value second-hand if you find a good one.

^ Sorry but I disagree. Yes it was very good in its day, but it is 20 years old with 20 year old brakes and suspension (I will admit that it was ahead of its time) but unless you want to drive a classic, I would avoid.
    Just my 2c.....

Edit: €500 would be a more realistic price.

That car would drive as well if not better than loads of new cars, it probably has power steering, ABS etc. It's not a Model T.

Those old Audi 80's are supposed to be extremely nose heavy and understeer like pigs.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,056 ✭✭✭Tragedy

And go through front tyres like no-ones business. Bit of a dog all things considered, and better can be had for a grand.

Those old audi 80s were bullet proof in saloon form at least. Keep wishbone bushes new & the odd couple of shocks & they would do hundreds of thousands of miles while still remaining like new, without a rattle in the whole interior.

I really abused one I used to have & had little money for repair as I was a student. I kept new oil in it, that was about it & it did alot of trouble free mileage.
true they were not the best handling car on the road but could still be driven on well through a bend.
