650 quid, tested till July next year http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/2631503

Cons: No mention of mileage. no tax. French.

Pros: Wouldn't matter if it didn't actually drive, just look at it.

Why take photos with the lights on? He's only highlighting the fact that there's a rear bulb gone, and one of the fog lights is blown too

    Still - tis pretty :D

It's funny, I keep looking at newish cars (Like the current 407 coupe) and aye them up saying "I'll be buying you in a few years" :P

I have a list of cars to buy when they become cheap haha

Well no, but it's veryyy pretty. I can't justify buying a petrol, maybe the situation might change come... I dunno, 2017? :L

Indeed! Silver might have gone out of fashion, but it will always be one of my favourite colours for a pedigree saloon. My last silver car was a '94 530iA V8 E34 :)

When I was 5 , all I wanted was a Mk III Escort. That kinda set the tone :(:p

PS- A CLS is high on that same list today. For once I want to know what its like to be a smug bastard with no respect for anyone else on the road, a unique privelige to park at random, to not bother my arse indicating and in general just just be obnoxious. I could buy a Bangle 5 Series to get that effect in stereo but they look like sh!te.

That model e class is still a nice car. 320 cdi, with lots of toys and sport spec is a very fine car.

I'm sorry, but there's nothing appealing about the W211/212 E-Class but the badge. The styling is bland, the build quality is average and they are no great shakes in the handling department either.

The Sport Model also looks positively naff. I'd take a Jag S-type/XF over one any day.

I drove a E320 cdi, 05, Avantgarde, red outside with cream leather. Absolutely fantastic car, great sound, great power, but it's the tax that would be the killer. Also, if I was paying that tax I'd pick an E39 over the E class anyway.

Edit: Like this, but cream leather.

Yes, but we've gathered the opinion over the last number of months that you have a taste for ugly cars, so I don't know why you argue your personal taste over others at every opportunity :pac:

    (I jest)

    ....but I don't.

I like many beautiful cars. I may like some that don't have universal appeal but to say I like nothing but ugly cars isn't true.

Not many of the cars you like are particularly stunning either. W124's look timeless and purposeful, but they're hardly beautiful.

I have horrible taste in cars, I just don't go around spouting on about it :p

    The engine?

At that price, wouldn't that be a gamble with most cars of that heritage? If you got 5kmiles out of that, and scrapped it for parts, you wouldn't be doing too bad. Leather in it looks very clean.

In the real world that isn't going to happen. €1400 for 5 thousand miles? That's a little on the expensive side don't you think?
Selling a car for parts will take a long time. It will also take space and it will take good mechanical knowledge to get all the parts (that work) off the car correctly, let alone find out what parts are worth the money and are worth selling.
    It's just not feasible.

It's not expensive for what it is! You wouldn't rent a car like that for that amount of money. It'd be like driving around in first class to places, all the time!

And isn't a point of bangernomics that you are willing to investigate these possibilities? ;)

****, I'm sounding like people who argue the side of LS400's now! :( But goddamn, that's a steal!

Not to mention that it's significantly cheaper then buying new when you include depreciation and finance costs.
