I'd actually like an Octavia. It'd be nice for long driving. A lot of them are in good nick. Similar to the Golf in some ways...

Skoda don't have a golf equivilant, do they?

Ah, but I mean shape wise. The Fabia is basically a Polo, I was wondering if they made a Golf just with a different badge...

    I'm putting this in.

Cheap convertible with test and all the nice extras. Suspension looks to be at the right height too which indicates a careful owner. Plus it's the VVC

Low enough miles, full leather looks decent...and its parked outside a church too!

Leak from the engine, and no service history!

Actually isn't there an off topic thread for this stuff now?

Anywho, real bangernomic for a Skoda Octavia. 1.6, 650 euro, NCT til next Feburary... A nice way to get around! :)

Then just do it. Go on, whats the worst that can happen! You might drive it for a month, figure out it costs a fortune to run and tax and the wife will probably kill you :p Bargain him down to 500 quid and if you want rid in a few weeks then sell it again. Even on a bad day you'll get most of it back. And at the end of it all you can say you owned a Volvo XC. Sweet ;)

Seems like the cheapest 2002 M-sport on the web. The problem of the light flshing on and going off sounds like a sensor.

Think its a bangoromic though as it has NCT and tax and is cheap and driving!

It has less than two months NCT, that's close to none really. mpg figures are a tad optimistic too.

little bit suspicious that the NCT is up in just over a weeks time and hes going with the ole "Will fly trough".

Whereas if he put it through for the sake of €50 if all is well he could add a few hundred if not more with t fresh NCT.

Wel to be honest, it has no real NCT (expires 1/12). I would also say that getting it through the NCT might cost a few bob.
So in my mind, if it isn't already end of life, (170,000 miles) driving a car around without a valid NCT, the worst thing that could happen is 5 points on your licence and a fine.
But as you say, could be a winner if it goes through the NCT. Chances are though, at that price, it's got some serious issues so I wouldn't touch it personally.

Very optimistic...I have one...21 MPG on average for both urban and country...no messing. Mine cost me 3.8k earlier this year but has 70k mls.
It is just such a beaut to drive. I'm keeping it for a good while.

Not exactly cheap when either the ABS speed sensor or ECU is knackered.
Very common fault on E39. Probably the reason it has no NCT test done as the ABS warning light is going to mean the car will fail.

I purchased my old e39 with the ABS light on constantly (good bargaining chip). I knew it was either the sensor or ABS pump. Turned out to be the pump. Got a refurbished one off fleaBay for about €150.
