6 speed box would suggest it's not a base model either

Why do the amount of doors matter?

I went from 3 door to 5 door... Wouldn't go back if I had the choice or a real bargain came up!

3 door models in cartain cars are more desirable, sometimes because of rarity and because traditional hot hatches only used to come in 3 door.

For someone young without kids, a 3 door is more desirable.

Hear, hear! 5 doors on small cars look horrible, almost without exception. 3 doors are so much more appropriate. That's why Alfa had a major success with the 156 (and 147) and why the recent Civics look cool - all hiding the extra doors. Here's an example of the Citroen C4:

True, looks smart. However still big miles and nearly 12 years old. Some of those 6-speed boxes are a disaster. This one (if original) must be ok. Not sure if that spec was sold here or not. I think there was a thread on here somewhere all about naming and badging VW's not so long ago.

Just wouldn't be my bag, I've been stung before by a 6-speed VW but I'm sure it would suit someone alright though.

I loved my 3dr Golf Highline.

We can laugh about it, but I think there are many people out there desperate to sell their cars just to pay a few bills. Sad times really.

I consider it a luxury to be changing my car, even if my budget is only €1500 and the max engine size is 1.8. Luckily I don't have that many bills.
