    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

I'm with JustLen here on the very cheap end of bangernomics. A €500 pushrod low mileage Fiesta with tax and long test and no worries about changing the belt has a lot to say for it. Not all of them are knackered and rattly / tappety, LM ;)

Sold a '99 one in '06 for €3k and the phone didn't stop ringing...

It will probably be around for another decade...

The only ever 1.3 pushrod I heard was a friend of mine's KA that he got the tappets adjusted on, it sounded as quiet as a mouse. That was 4 months ago, and yesterday he rang me to tell me the engine has lost all power. Not sure if it's related or not, though.

I'd like to be linked to a 1.3 pushrod that isn't noisey please :P

Edit: We all know they have 5 digit clocks, I'd say it's seen a few 00000's more than once in it's life.

The pushrod engine is bullet proof if looked after.

Maybe your mate made the clearances too tight and the valves weren't closing? So now carbon deposits are causing valve leak?

No sign of rattly push-rod and tappets here but they are in there:D

I know what an ECU is. :P

I've just noticed that the ones I've owned take a while to switch on the fan on the rad at all, figured it would be connected to that problem a bit. Haven't heard of it til now, so I'll watch out for that.

ahh, ya bollix ya, and I was going to give the sarcy answer ;)

You're almost as bad as VolvoBoy!

And that's a ripoff for a hunk of Toyota junk.

    Reliable motoring!

Until you try to start it...

Wrong badge on the boot, it's clearly an aura model and it has a terra badge.
Maybe they put that on so it wouldntnbe such a target for thieves, like.

2500 miles a year should make for a good car

Not too badly priced for a freshly tested ole yoke, mileage not detailed though, and windy windows...

Windy windows and sunroof are good in a way, less to go wrong on a 20 year old car... Wonder what it's towed over the course of that 20 year period. I kinda like its simpleness though! :D

Agreed. Shame it's a manual though, but the 1,8 is nice.

Gloss blue would mop up a treat no doubt.. could be a nice motor that would last a fews yet.

possibly, and also cheap daycent cars are selling within minutes.

I have cheap cars that when I put them up for sale, the phone rings, and people plead with me to keep it till they get here:pac:

Yep, I sold a nearly 11 year old Rover 75 with a serious water leak and nasty parking damage for €400 last week. Sold in 5 minutes for full asking price and the phone didn't stop hopping until I took the ad down :D

    'Ya think?
I have mentioned this before. I was stung before by people looking at this thread and ruining peoples chances of buying cars off this thread.
It happened me when I posted a car up here for opinion and went to buy the car, on the way from Cork to Co.Clare one night and I got the phone call "sorry M8 car gone".
My own fault really. I should never have posted the link.

Another aspect is tyre kickers making phone calls to the seller asking questions with no intention of buying the car. Sometimes this can increase the selling price of the car, as in "re-advertised due to time wasters".
