12 years old and they're asking less than 2k - I don't even want to guess what it was when brand new ... depreciated faster than a falling rock

My, my ...that's some bit of machine for the money.

But you couldn't seriously just buy that and throw it away at the first sign of serious trouble, it deserves better than that.
Once you start servicing and looking after it though, you're clearly waaay outside the bangernomics economic philosophy.

Current climate and peoples attitude to motor tax make it very difficult to sell.

Exactly. It's not really bangernomics. It's more a bargain for an enthusiast (purchasing wise).

It costs serious money to keep it running in a decent shape.

I'd hold out for a better spec'd one with leather etc if you really want one ;) That one on donedeal isn't priced unusually cheaply really.

That's gotta be an ex-CD car.

    I've a '99 735 but she's a baby in comparison - 3.5V8 Vs 5.4V12!

I wouldn't fancy the running costs on that at all, the V8 is a big lazy and relatively trouble free (touch-wood!) engine, the V12 is a whole different breed. Plus with the extra inches and double-glazing etc that's gonna be one heavy, and very thirsty car!

The condition it looks to be in it should nearly be museumed actually.

That 750i has 200,000 miles on her.

    Edit:

    A few stats:

    Fuel consumption (urban) 12.8 mpg
Fuel consumption (extra urban) 29.4 mpg
    Fuel consumption (combined) 20 mpg
    0 - 62 mph 6.8 seconds :)
    Top speed 155 mph
    Cylinders 12
    Valves 24 v
    Engine power 326 bhp :)
    CO2 emissions 338 g/km
    Length 5124 mm
    Wheelbase 2930 mm
    Width 1862 mm
    Fuel tank capacity 90 litres
    Gross vehicle weight 2570 kg

    So the 3 bad points:
    20mpg,
    90 litre tank,
    2.5 tonnes of german steel.

    the 3 Good points:
    0-60 in 6.8 seconds
    326 bhp
    V12 noise

20mpg average is not bad at all, most folk wouldn't see that in the real World driving really. Also do a few foot to the floor maneouvres and you'll be seeing less than 15mpg average.

Over 8 secs to 102kmph from when the speedo needle starts moving, almost 10sec to 102kmph from when the rev counter moves.

You have a 735 V8.... Well first off I'm very jealous. Second of all I'm still very very jealous.

Now can you tell me what the running costs are on yours as if I was to splash out on a 7 series it would be the V8 type that you have.

    Cheers.

Hang on, that means the LS400 gets better acceleration out of a 4l V8.

Well the 215000 km er engine in the video was no where near the claimed 6.8 to 60. I have a similar video from my Zt (not even in Sport mode, just D) from a standing start to 60 is less than 10secs from rev counter movement. The 750 in the vid may well be half w**ked.

I'd gladly donate a few hundred euro into that fund!

    I don't agree.

The needle starts moving at 2 seconds in, and pause at 9 seconds in and it's at just over 100km.

    Pretty much 6.8

At 9.0 (ish, first bit of 9 secs I can pause it at) secs it's at 92kmph.
At 10.0 (ish, same as above first bit of 10 I can pause it at) secs it's at 102kph (defo not half way between 100 and 110kph)

I agree the speedo moves at 2 secs in but the speedo isn't at 0 ;) it's at a tad over 10kph.

Have another look and let me know do you still disagree, 8 secs at best 0 to 60 I reckon, that's being generous in my opinion. Pretty much more than 6.8 anyway. Your also forgetting (as well as forgetting that a second is not an instant) the speedo over reads so at an indicated 100kph it's actually travelling at less.

I see where you're coming from, but I still reckon it's 7 :pac:

There's a good few variables to be taken into account with assessing the speed, so possibly we're both wrong.

What's pretty clear though is the top end power is awesome. Proper Autobahn crusher.

    I'll be generous 9.5 - 2.0 = 7.5
The 2.0 is when the car goes over 10kph

no way is that 7 :D

You can reckon it's 7 all you like but the speedo readings, the time on the video, basic maths and a dollop of common sense (not even required really) all disagree with you :pac:

Think thats just the waqy the camera is facing, kinda under the needle.

id agree with 7 seconds aswell, starts at 2 hits 102 at 9 seconds

......... so ye can't pause the video so that 9 secs appears at 92 ish ? A second is a long time chaps. A second is an awful lot of 7 / 8 seconds.

Common sense seems to be not at all common in here tonight :pac:

Your point about the camera angle is so looney it's laughable, there isn't even a zero on that speedo (as with most of that era), the last increment is the 10kph mark, complete and utter facepalm for you old stock, unreal.
