If it's got NCT, tyres and timingbelt for 2years it would be cheap fun, esp if it's the higher powered version of that engine.

Makes mine look very expensive, mine only had 83K miles though.
160bhp or 190bhp, hard to know without a peak at the VIN plate really. The KV6 in the 75s/ZTs is quite robust. If anyone is thinking of having a peak at her watch out for rattle off the inlet manifold, best thing to do is to remove the power VIS valve (mounted on top of the manifold, held by 4 philips screws) and manually move the actuator arm for the valves, should move freely in and out with no up and down movement. If it waggles up and down the manifold is sha**ed, €800 for a new one + fitting  ). More than likely due her 2nd belt change shortly, may well be on the originals as at €1000 ish to have them done many folks don't bother. And there are very very few cases of 75/ZTs snapping belts.

If anyone is considering having a peak at her I can send on a few relevent links for checks etc.

Dents in the door do take awau from her abit though. No dounbt €1500 will buy her, they are a nice drive.

    Interesting...
Any idea what sort of money I'd get for a complete 98 Seat Ibiza?
Trying to figure out if it's worth scrapping or selling on.

I have a 00 ibiza. I like to joke that the aluminum in the home made roof rack is worth more than the car

It's a 160, the hairpins are a dead giveaway and cartell confirms.

At the mileage, it'll be due:
    Timing belts
    Waterpump
    Vis motors
    Thermostat
And probably a new inlet manifold.

But it doesn't time travel. Similar issue some of the De Lorean owners have, when their car won't go more than 85 mph :p

Took new pictures and now can't up load them due to a rubbish internet connection.

Its soooooo slow it keeps timing out before the pics load :o

It took 7 minutes to upload the one of the mileage

Hmm I'm only after discovering this thread and have had my "banger" for 2 months now, but it would have been worthy of a mention here. Its a 99 Honda Accord 2l vtec es, with lots of extras including ac, leather etc, 14months nct and only set me back 780euros, from a honda dealer in wexford who took it as a trade in and just wanted to shift it on. The millage is high enough at 140k, but it looks as if it was mostly motorway miles.

Any number of 99 accords going less than a grand.

Those Accords are great motors, they do like their drop of petrol though.

but it's got a brand new 2 years NCT now

If the mileage is correct it should be worth its asking price

    V90 !?!?!?:D:D:D:D

That looks like a nice 940 turbo, good find, I wonder which hp it is, 130 or 160??

    Taxed as a 2.4 = €900 /yr

    From a 2.3t ? That's fairly woeful, a 520i of the same era was 150bhp.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,340 ✭✭✭mullingar

Yes, I recall they also used a low pressure turbo ( around 4psi ) and it generated just 135hp.

I could be wrong, need to google.........

    Edit:

    Googled:

There was 2 versions of the 2.3 turbo in the 940.

    -A low pressure turbo @ 135hp
    -A high pressure turbo @ 165hp

As any tiddledieye driver will tell you, there is more to turbos than just plain horse power. Dare I mention torque? :D

My old Saab 9000 low pressure turbo got only 150 bhp out of 2 liters. It was neither particularly quick off the line nor did it have overly impressive top speed. But between 80 - 120 km/h during overtaking (i.e. where it counts most) there were only few cars quicker than it, none of them run of the mill.

I would guess that the Volvo low pressure turbos follow the same philosophy.
