Its in good nick but that doesnt look like a standard merc shade of blue (but I could be wrong here) and its a pity the owner changed the steering wheel and gear knob..

Still nice though and in good nick, the leather looks in perfect condition

Without NCT or VRT, the car is pretty much worthless in this country. The only realistic (legal) options for the seller are to sell it back into the UK, to sell for parts here or get it registrated and tested.

Very true, even registered and tested a 13 year old, 150000 mile A8 with not to everyones taste alloys is worth close to f all. Certainly nowhere near €2500 unless you find a right f***tard to buy it.

Its hard to tell from the pictures but the colour match on both front wings doesn't appear to match the doors.

I'd like to see it in the metal but I'd reckon a possible front end bang has happened in the past.

Also what Unkel and James said above is pretty spot on

now 1500, seems like someone is listening :)
are those wheels replicas? can anyone tell from the pic?

The lowest open market selling price they assign to stuff is €2000 ish. On emissions that would yield €600 VRT so I can easily see the €800 being what it would attract.

There is one E300 Diesel S124 taxi in Kilkenny with 740,000 km at the moment, engine untouched. Unfortunately, the new 9-year old taxi regulation will swipe this lovely car off the road. What a shame...

Yes indeed that's a disgrace, another scam, both trying to generate money, and force the little guy workin on his own out of the market. there's 97 jaguar taxi down here, and a seriously gorgeous E39 BMW (02 i think), a lexus LS400 which is 94 i think but even still it's better now at that age than a lot of brand new cars.

Sad thing is that merc you're on about will probably end up baled becuase people in this country wet themselves in fear if they see mileage past 100,000. Foolish and wasteful, it's the condition of the car NOW that's important, if it's been looked after it will be better than one with 20,000 miles that was abused and neglected

€720 is the minimum VRT - remember based on emissions, the highest bracket is now 36%!

Funny thing, when discussed this new 9-year taxi rule is that every one always mentions large, nice sedans like Lexus etc and not for instance that Toyota Corolla 1988 year ****box that was running around D15 some time ago:)

As much as it hurts to say, this rule will destroy a lot of ****boxes, worth the sacrfice of a few good cars.

I'd love a spin in a 1988 Corolla, just not sure I'd pay for the privilege!

If the bumper is off, you can see what's there. Very easy walk away.

They are a great car ruined by a truly sh1te gearbox. It's a four speed auto sourced from GM and they are regularly lunched by the 272bhp straight six, sending many examples to an early grave.

This is very cheap for a later model V40: http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/1676970

It looks very well equipped too and has tax/NCT.
