For its age of course. The driver has damage on 3 out of 4 corners that we can see. I'm going to imagine there is minor damage to all 4 corners. Also the plastic moulding on the rear passenger door is damaged. Minor cosmetic things but sometimes they can cost more to fix than the engine, especially considering the age.

It's one of those cars that a mechanic will suck air through his teeth looking at. :D

No you are looking at it a different way to others is all.

Some want a fixer upper for cheap.
    Some want a run around.
    Some want a rare item.
Some want a miracle old cheap banger which is street ready visually and mechanically.

Some people will view that car and wont know how to fix the scuffs and door strip damage, start a thread about it, lose faith and give up.

If I want to buy a car for any of the above list or more reasons then I am in the right thread. Nobody needs to conform to anybody else reasons, that the beauty of this thread. "wrong thread" pah

Ghia badge on the wing, probably a 1.6i. Is that a chunk missing from the bumper ?

    That's a steal!!

I'd have reservations though, why not fix the clutch cable and add another grand onto that?

No mention of miles and you'd struggle to get a grand for a 1997 minty one with 2 years test with modest miles on it.

Not a hope they're the actual pictures of the car!

As is he'll probably let it go for €300 cash. It will be gone soon :)

With the clutch cable done, he might ask for €1000 but it won't sell quick. My guess is he can't be bothered with the latter and just wants it gone.

Ah come on, Berty James - it's B'nomics.

We don't care about scuffs, trim, and chunks missing from bumpers - as long as it has 'ticket and tax' (as HJ would say).

the cars parked somewhere up north look at all the other reg's and he has his blocked out?

saab sounds like its on its last legs tbvh ( from advert alone - sure it has a low price but its just not advertised right )

either way, for 400 quid, you can more then afford to blow the engine and give it a carlson make-over

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 704 ✭✭✭itarumaa

The problem with the Saab is that it is a broken 2l car, not many people are looking those ones. Who knows btw what kind of job is it to change clutch cable, or is it something else?

I have been selling my Volvo some time now and interest have been not that great, I do think that many people are not looking for 2l cars to fix them, 1 liter would be compeletely different story.

State of the pictures. Anyone who thinks putting up pics like the interior one in that ad is going to help sell it should be shot.

Going by the ad I'd say the seller is a pirate "GAAR"

    Agreed.

At the same time, its a 24 year old, 500euro car, I would not be expecting too much.

VRT makes is looney anyway unless it's pristine, which is doesn't appear to be. The 1.6i yokes were not bad at all though in fairness.

True enough but if the seller is too lazy to spend two seconds taking another picture of the interior when he realises the first one is blurry as fu<k it wouldn't inspire you as to the overall state the car might be in.
