VW polo central locking

    Hi I dont know if this is the correct forum for this but here goes, My daughter bought a 00 Polo during the week the central locking worked fine but for some reason tonight only the drivers door locks and the 3 other doors wont lock through turning the key in the drivers door we have to lock the passengers door on it's own and the 2 rear doors wont lock at all. Help please.

    No, it was bought private, by that answer i guess it's going to cost!

    The central locking contact switch in the door lock could be faulty. Unfortunately, this switch cannot be purchased separately and only comes as part of the door lock.

    Thanks for the reply, is it a hard job to do as im pretty handy with my hands and can I buy the parts Im not too far from Otto car parts

    I'm not sure if Otto supply door locks but it's worth a call.

    It's not a difficult job but you'll need to remove the interior door panel first. Once it's off you'll have access to the lock.

    Before you start be 100% sure that you have genuine VW central locking and not an aftermarket installation. If you have an aftermarket system then you will need to identify the manufacturer. Also, if you have genuine VW electric window you will be able to buy the central locking switch separately (item 3 below).

    Here's the door lock set up - item 1 is what you'll need to replace.

    Cheers, I got a Haynes manual for the Polo 1999 from a friend in work I'll have a look at it over the next day or so and post a reply. Thanks again
