Van Gerwen must be one of the unluckiest players around, he always seems to draw Phil Taylor in the first or second rounds!

I think he could go a long way in these tournaments if he got a decent draw but somehow he always gets Taylor as you said in the early rounds!

Is seeding for these Players Championship events not based on their ranking? As in 1 players 32 etc? Needs to move up the rankings if so.

He seems to get unlucky draws most of the time, he is young and talented and will win a lot of tournaments in the future in my view. Just look at the draw Mervyn King got to the semi's of the World Championship. If Van Gerwan got the same draw as him in that tournament he would also get to the semi! Also I've been looking at the planetdarts website when non televised events are on and he seems to get the worst of the draw. He will be in the top sixteen at the end of next year, I've no doubts about that!

Yup you're right, it's the way with most of the events, so expect to see Van gerwen and Thornton draw Taylor and Barney for a good few tournaments until they manage to move up the rankings

Your right about thornton a few more tournaments and he will move up the rankings hence avoid the big boy/s in the early stages of tournaments, but as for van gerwin hes had over 2years to move up the rankings and has been in and around 32-40th place in the order of merit for the best part of a year, look at the likes of van der voort, king, thornton, stompe in there short term in the pdc all have won tournaments and reached major tv finals but nothing from van gerwin, i tink hes a bit over rated in my opinion, yes he is a class act but a bit too inconsistent for the top, i reckon give him another 3 or 4 years and we will see the best of this lad but not just yet.

Lads this tournament has nothing to do with the Order of Merit, seedings are based on the Players Championships Order of Merit which is seperate to the main Order of Merit.

This link HERE shows you 2009's Players Championships Order of Merit so far but this tournament is based on last years one. I doubt very much if the players are in the same place on both Order of Merit's.

    Darts Classic in Gladbeck.

    TAYLOR110.jpg
PHIL TAYLOR whitewashed Adrian Lewis 6-0 to win the final of the German Darts Classic in Gladbeck.

Taylor claimed a third successive Players Championship win with the triumph, bouncing back in style from defeat to James Wade in the Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts on Thursday.

The world number one dropped only six legs in seven games on Saturday, including four 6-0 victories as he took the £6,000 title.
American David Fatum held Taylor at two-all in their first round clash, only for the Stoke legend to win the next four legs and then whitewash Patrick Loos, Mensur Suljovic and Steve Beaton in reaching the quarter-finals.
He defeated Dutchmen Michael van Gerwen and Vincent van der Voort 6-3 and 6-1 respectively to reach the final before unleashing a superb display on local rival Lewis.
Finishes of 68 and 80 put Taylor in command, double eight moved him 3-0 up and double 16 further extended the lead without Lewis having a dart at a double.
Taylor then sealed victory with two sensational finishes, taking out 129 with treble 19, double 16 and double top followed by a 115 of 25, bullseye and double top to claim the title.
Taylor had earlier taken out a bull-25-bull finish in seeing off van Gerwen, and the win follows a double-header victory in Gibraltar last month.
Lewis' run was his best in a Players Championship since last June, as he saw off Denis Ovens 6-1 in the semis after earlier victories over Alan Tabern, Wes Newton and Mark Walsh.
Ovens enjoyed narrow 6-5 wins over Wayne Jones and Steve Maish on the way to his first semi-final of 2009, while van der Voort whitewashed Colin Osborne 6-0 in the quarter-finals.
Mark Webster's first appearance in a Players Championship since joining the PDC was short-lived as he suffered a 6-1 first round defeat to Ronnie Baxter, taking out 142 for the only leg he won.
Play continues with a second Players Championship in Gladbeck on Sunday.

Anderson lost to Thornton in 4th round but has another chance tomorrow.
Interesting to see Anastasia play in this after playing in a BDO event the other night. She got knocked out in the second round after beating Kevin McDine 6-4 in the first round:eek:

May as well use this thread as the PDC Floor tournaments thread since that's the direction it has taken! I'll change the name of it.

Thornton in the final again after winning yesterdays. Webster beaten in semi-final so he has now qualified for the UK open. Anastasia got to the third round so she is very close to qualifying. Priestley v Osbourne is the other semi and it's 4-4 at the moment.

    Follow the scores HERE

Very impressive from Thornton. Only Taylor and Lewis have won both tournaments in one weekend before. I think Thornton will make the top 6 before the years end and qualify for the Premier League.

was just looking at the scottish players championship results and saw that Anastasia Dobromyslova 6-4 Kevin McDine does that mean that kevin is the first to lose to her in the PDC. not that there anything wrong with that, she's a great player but remember during the grand slam she nearly bet mardle they kept saying will he be the first to be beaten by a girl so is kevin the unlucky one or has she beaten someone before him

No she beat someone in the German Players Championships but I can't remember who it was.

Blundell has been on the tour for a little while, he has never done that well before. Cracking performance. Gary Anderson, Paul Nicholson and John Part all lost in the preliminary round. Paul Nicholson has come over to try and qualify for the UK Open but I don't think he has won any money yet! Doesn't look like he will qualify unless he stays ove rin UK for a while longer. Both Lewis and mardle lost in first round and so did a few others like Baxter. Just goes to show how competitive the floor tournaments are.

Well done to Priestley, the man is a living legend. That's his third final in a row and he deserved the win.

Looks like Anderson won't qualify for the UK Open either. He has had a shocking start to his PDC career and if it stays like this he won't be in any of the majors.

Well done to Wade on a good win and fair play to McDine for reaching the final.

I'm surprised Anderson is doing so poorly I thought he'd do really well in the PDC

McDine did well he must of taken some stick after losing to Anastasia on the first day

I thought the UK Open was open to everyone? I didn't think there was any qualifying process....

No, not open to everyone, there are 8 Blue Square UK Open qualifying tournaments.

With five events left a couple of good runs in tournaments should see him there. He probably only needs around £300 to qualify.

As for the rest of the televised PDC events unless he adjusts fairly quickly he wont qualify.

Apparently even the likes of James Wade and them have to qualify for the open
