I thought this was just me, everything was either not loading or timing out, I even thought i had a virus so did a virus scan. Took me ages to finally log onto boards.

Yep - this appears to be working. Not overly quick i'd say but still working all the same.

Start --> Control Panel --> Network and Internet --> View network status and tasks --> Manage network connections --> Right click on Local Area Connection and select properties --> Select Internet Protocol Version 4 -- click properties --> click use the following DNS servers.

    Holy ****.

From the start menu -> control panel -> network and sharing center -> there should be a number of links on the left of the window, click the one saying manage network settings -> double click on your network connection icon -> properties -> click internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) then click properties -> click the radio button that says "use the following DNS server addresses" you can enter both the Magnet and alternative Eircom in whichever one you prefer.

EDIT: Must have been off by a few seconds.

To change TCP/IP settings in Vista, click Start button.....Network....Network and Sharing Centre.... View Status....(on appropriate network connection), go into Properties. Highlight TCp/IP v4 and you should be able to do it there. But presumably you could change on your router either. Need admin privleges in Vista to do this though. Think that's how you do it. XP here in front of me.
    Hope I haven't misled you.

Having lots of probs with it being on and off for a few hours now...

Like everyone else it seems i had same problems as well.
On the Netopia router page ..
It has Primary DNS server as ...192.168.1.236
    Secondary as ............192.168.1.194

If i recall correctly it was the other way around(last time i looked was a while ago), does this make much of a difference out of interest?

Bray user and using open dns server config. at the moment

I knew it was on the Eircom side.

On Eircom 7.6 here in Tipp...

Have a MBook & Vaio in front off me and was trying furiously to get my Networking Lecture printed for the morning...

    In XP ..
start -control panel (classic view)- network connections-right click your adapter and choose properties......then scroll down and choose Internet protocol tcp/ip and click properties just down to your right a bit ...
Then tick the USE the following dns server address ..
    in the first line type..
    4.2.2.2
then OK and OK again ...
That will work fine , but change back to OBTAIN dns server address automatically when ya hear Eircom is back working ..

or sinks way is alot easier:D

That'll work only on a single pc. If you have multiple pc's it's better to change the dns server on the router, that way it works for all pc's on the network.
