Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ok, got my new D90 a month ago (brilliant cam btw!), and i now want to buy a nice wide angle lens. I have the Nikon 18-200mm, had it on my D40 for the last two years, and its a great "always on" lens, but not really suited for landscape photography.

Now I want to buy a serious wide angle lens, but I'm not sure which one to buy.

    The contestants are

    Tokina 11-16 2.8
    Sigma 10-20
    Tokina 12-24 4.0
    Tamrom 10-24 3.5-.45

the Nikon 12-24 is out of budget.

    Any help appreciated....

    I have the Sigma 10-20

Really like it & good value for money. The Nikon lens is sharper but the price is steeper too.

    I've had the tokina 12-24mm f/4 and I have the 11-16mm f/2.8
they are both great, if no much difference in price I'd go for the 11-16mm, very sharp from wide open and faster

some experiences with old sigmas 10-20mm f/4 weren't up to the tokinas, but new models are meant to be similar in quality to the tokina 12-24mm
reviews of the tamron tell that the lens is quite poor

I had the Sigma 10-20mm until it was stolen. Haven't gotten around to replacing yet, but definitely will. Highly recommended in my book.

Thanks for the replies folks. Its down to the Tokina 11-16 or the Sigma now, I might spend the extra cash and buy the 2.8 Tokina.

IMO, you shouldn't limit yourself with your lenses. A f/2.8 wide angle can have many other applcations than landscapes, even creative low light shots would be grand!

You can always stop down the f/2.8.... :)
