Liverpool must have it now. I cannot see Everton scoring again, anyway.

Looking at the replay it was some touch from torres. Nearly 2 from gerrard

I just can't stand the way Liverpool fans hero worship him.

coz he is only one that constantly gets us out of the $hit. no one else can claim they get us back into as many matches.

esp when cahill gets sent off! we need to score again quickly or any dead balls near the end may cost us.

    Because he's a good player.
Liverpool fans treat him like the second coming of Christ.

Keeper should have saved it but Torres did excellently

he's one of the best players we've ever had, why wouldn't we worship him?

We have been in a lot of big matches when he has won us a cup so somebody that does that for your team is rated fairly highly.

it would be the same if Everton we competing in finals and Cahill kept getting important goals.

utd fans do the same with rooney, did with keane and cantona
arsenal did it with titi, do it with cesc
    chelsea do it with terry

big players who win games for their teams, and get them out of s***e time and time again are really really liked by their fans....go figure??!

None of these do it to the extent that Liverpool do with Gerrard. Chelsea probably come closest with Terry but still some way off.
Of course we like these players as fans.
But Liverpool fans have an obsession with him.

    Just my 0.02

couldnt happen to a nicer ex utd player! :p

And on his recent form (excluding that goal) i bet utd would have him back with open arms!!

Where the hell would the pool be without Stevie GBH?

Terry has real quality players around him. Gerrard has been doin it playing in mediocre teams and basically dragged the team through and made up for other players short comings..

Poor form from Mascherano on two counts there, diving and asking for a card. Hate to see that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,369 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

ah masch you let yourself down there.

cahill's going to get himself sent off, not need to act the eejit with the diving and the card wagging...

  • Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 9,049 Mod ✭✭✭✭Aquos76

Masch doing his best to get Cahill sent off there. He should have been booked for diving

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,233 ✭✭✭darkskol

Riera coming on for babel prob.

Cahill won't last this game. Poor form from masch though.

    Another nothing performance from Babel.

Masch has to be close to being the best tackler in world football?

people say that tackling is a dying art with the clamp down on dangerous challenges.

masch shows that you don't need to be reckless to tackle well and impose yourself on the oppostion.

Did Kuyt blow the chance to win it there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,369 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    bloody dirk

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,407 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

Mmmm, Kuyt should have done better there.

Think Kuyt was hoping Howard was going to give him a gimme like he gave Gerrard.:D

  • Moderators, Regional South East Moderators Posts: 9,049 Mod ✭✭✭✭Aquos76

That should have been gameover from Kuyt

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,589 ✭✭✭✭Necronomicon

Wow, the game has opened up big time. Both teams should've done better with those breaks.

He has the attributes to be a good player, but he won't get the game time to develop at Liverpool. I don't think he has the full confidence of the manager either which is important for a young player.

what does that have to do with anything? it doesnt deflect from the fact that Masch cheated and tried to get a guy sent off also..... no need to try have a pop at another teams player for it :)

EDIT: i just noticed the user name, i remember you now! question answered

my link just went dead, any sign of a goal?

He actually seems to be going backwards as a player.

Baffling that Benitez should think of him as a superior option to Keane.

  • Registered Users Posts: 465 ✭✭coco06

    bad miss by torress...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,524 ✭✭✭joe123

God Dirk Kuyt missed a sitter. Sell him for 28 million already would you!....

Anyone else think Keane would of been a perfect player for this stage to unlock their defence.

Its a shame to see Babels unfufilled potential. I still have really high hopes for him but cant see it happening with benitez.

Also a draw/replay here is the last thing we need.

His modus operandi is trying to pull the ball onto his right and shooting. That's it. He doesn't seem to take up good positions, pass well, cross well - or generally help to link things for the team. Plus - he is not great defensively. Ultimately, when he plays it is like we have 10 and a half men. And I'm tired of it.

It looks to me like he was a player who destroyed a lower standard of league on the basis of his physical tools. And now that they aren't as effective against better players - there is nothing more to come. Beaten docket.

Its becoming part of the game more and more, will mike riley book a player for diving next week like he did yesterday, its the only way to stamp it out

they're missing half a squad a "small time" team as luckylyod calls them like everton and they came to anfield got a draw in the league and needed a howler from howard for liverpool to escape?

they've covered every blade of grass and defended brilliantly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,407 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

Worst possible result. Great second half performance though. Much the better side and just our finishing that let us down. Ah well.
