lol@Mansun. Ah, reminds me of The Chart Show.... :D

And you know, I am alone in all the world in not entirely getting Neutral Milk Hotel.

Neon Bible, I feel, would have been better loved if it hadn't had Funeral to live up to.

Whichever one was DJ Shadow's 2nd. Private Press I think?

Troublegum - Therapy? If you count Pleasure Death and Baby Teeth as EPs.

    +1.
    Gem of an album.

I prefer Neon Bible by an ever so narrow margin.

    Pulp - Different Class

That belongs on the 'Best Fifth Album' thread.

Most of the ones I though of have already been mentioned: Siamese Dream, White Light/White Heat, Show Your Bones and The Bends all definitely qualify.

Last Splash is brilliant but I think I prefer Pod (very little to choose between them though. My absolute favourite Breeders album is Mountain Battles.)

One I'd like to add is M.I.A. - Kala. Way better than Arular imo.

If you consider 'Wanted Dead or Alive' to be Warren Zevon's debut then his self titled album is the best 2nd album. If you dont, then 'Excitable Boy' is the best.

Honourable mention are Steely Dan 'Countdown to Ectasy' and Lloyd Coles 'Easy Pieces'

Can't believe no one has mentioned The Prodigy - Music for the Jilted Generation. For shame!

+1 for Prodigy, Music for Jilted Generation. Although many would disagree, I liked Funeral for a Friends "Hours" also. You could say too that Metallica's "Ride the Lightning" was a significant step up too. Some would disagree of course !
