Another from The Gardens. This guy was the head honcho. Cool as a cucumber, even with The Law closing in on them.

Do you know these lads? If not, do you talk to them in order to get the photo done? Looks a bit scary :o (umum, not trying to be upperclass here or notin in case the message comes over wrongly, just curiousity!)

I was just driving through yesterday looking for abandoned chairs. They caught my eye and I jumped outta the car and asked them. No I've never met them before. I find the 2 most important thing to taking a good picture are: be there and have your camera. The rest is a variation on science but essentially means nothing without those two first priciples. They were really ok lads, didn't play up(I told them not too). Don't be afraid to get right into the shot, even if that means talking to people you'd usually avoid.

Here's another from yesterday and the same roll of film. I never met him but if you see a man who's 72 slieghing in the Phoenix Park you just gotta get the pic. He was cold and packing up by the time I got camera out but he was good enough to pose for a few. His name's Tom, he's from Monaghan and he's 72. I never met him until 60secs before this shot but I'll certainly be keeping my out for him. I owe him a pint.

    Hi Crazylegskane,
Out of curiosity, how close did you get to the heron and with what lens to get that shot, is it the image shown a crop ?
I've been trying get some shots of the wildbirds in my back garden, but I can't get near enough with a 210 mm.

Shot him from 2nd floor, about 10 meters with 300mm on a nikon D70. lt has a small crop just to lose some of the gray area on top.....he lands here most days to get a feed, girlfriend [l pearse] call's him Scraggy!!!!!!.

Tip for getting wildbirds close to the camera....Bring Food!!! works every time! :D

Sure amn't I hefting the wild bird feed into them as it is, the robins are rolling round like little rosy apples in the snow.
I've the same camera, I'll try the 70-300 ED rather than 70-210 for bit of extra reach.

New Portaloo proto-type I'm working. Taking it to Dragon's Den see if it's a goer.
