Finally got to use my Sigma 10-20mm out doors. Took a looooong walk in the snow in the woods up towards Johnny Foxes. Best viewed large (click on image)

from the beach in Portmarnock, Sunday. I sort of like this but don't really know why. I do have a thing about shells in a way that I don't, for example, have about flowers.

Hard to tell at this size and yes I know your views on all sizes. :D

Is this your macro lens and also why f/32? I assume the same picture basically can be taken at f/8?
I'm no expert here just curious.

    more Shelley than, say, Rosie?

    I'll get me coat.

Nice image but something to give it a sense of scale would be nice. Is it massive?

I'm not a macro expert either but the aperture was to maximise the field in focus. f8 should do it but so far with that lens it's not really happening below f16 for me. Also, tipped the scales against me with no tripod and a handbag hanging out over the other hand didn't help the balancing act. I'd forgotten how heavy a camera could be, particularly with a flash stuck on top. And there's the other issue. I'm not doing so well with the flash at the moment and find it easier to control light using the camera controls than the flash controls. Doesn't make much sense to me but it's working.

Yes, the lens was the macro lens by the way. I'm happy to mess around with it but the kitesurfing side of things is haunting my life big time again the past couple of hours and will for the next week.

Shell was about 2 inches across. I have done better in the past with shells to be honest but I did like this one for some reason that I can't explain.

    Ty for information.
I don't think I've ever shot over f8 yet, FiF I must try again with my macro which I've neglected recently.

Yes it's open to the public and free. They are also tripod friendly in there. It doesn't get that busy either.

true, but equally there is no point in taking a brilliant picture and then ruining it with a huge watermark right through the middle of it!
