Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rio won't be back - Fergie said there was only a chance of him making the Everton game if it had been on the Monday night, so i don't see him being back a week earlier than that. Fergie also said Ronaldo would be fine.

    I think it could be

    VDS
    Fletcher---Nev----Vidic
    JOS

    at the back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 302 ✭✭Rich1691

You can't write off Johnny Evans in defence, he has done well in the past couple of weeks, Vidic has been outstanding and there's no doubt he will play, O'Shea Is very easy to get passed at left back as he is 6ft something, how long more is Evra out for?

Sky are showing Villa v Portsmouth, and Setanta don't seem to have any so it doesn't look like it is on tv.

To be honest I have no idea how we are going to line up especially in defense.

    VDS
    Fletcher-Neville-Vidic-O'Shea
    Carrick
    Giggs
    -???????
    Ronaldo
    Tevez---Bebratov----

Have to wait and see if Wellbeck or Fabio can make it. As Wellbeck could go right wing, or Fabio left back, and Fletcher right mid. Otherwise the wings are really a problem. Can Giggs do 90 minutes on the left? can Scholes do another 90 in the center? Don't think Tosic will be fit enough for a full game.

    I expect,

    VDS

    -Fletcher---Neville----Vidic----O'Shea-

    Carrick--Scholes

    --Ronaldo
    Tevez
    Park-

    Berbatov

Oh? my bad, I didn't realise he was injured, I guess that would explain Neville playing centre back for the past couple of matches!:D

Either of those two line-ups are still very strong from midfield forward.

ANyone think having so many injuries could work somewhat in our favour for this match? West Brom could see it as a chance to get one over us and play more attacking than they would if we had a full squad...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Jesus, I forgot Park was injuried. So many :) Giggs then is the obvious expectation, and I would expect him to play in the middle with Tevez on the wing.

That's 4 billion Euros worth of injured players there!

Such a squad we have though cos we can still field a really good team!

I reckon it'll be Eckersley at RB, because he came on against Spurs even though Fletcher was on the bench too. I think I'd rather Fletcher playing right mid, rather than have Tevez on the wing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,252 ✭✭✭deisedevil

    VDS

    Fletcher Neville Vidic O'Shea

    Carrick--Scholes

    Ronaldo
    Tevez

    Giggs

    Berbatov

That's still a team well capable of getting the win. Only thing is I'd be a bit worried about West Brom's form at home lately, last time they were beaten at home was back in November by Chelsea. So it aint gonna be easy to break them down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,369 ✭✭✭UnitedIrishman

As much as I'd like to see Eckersley getting in at right back, I'd say Fergie will go with Fletcher right back because of his experience. It'll probably be Fletch, Neville, Vidic and O'Shea; Ronaldo, Carrick, Scholes and Giggs (with Carrick, Scholes and Giggs holding the middle); and Tevez and Berbatov - 4-4-2 to 4-3-3 as we normally play.

Will this match be on in some pubs like the wigan one was? That was on Setanta US or something... Will it be on in the Woolshed then? Hopefully!

The pubs that do show the matches that arn't broadcast on Sky or Setanta usually have the DigitAlb package, so they should be showing it on SuperSport 1 (DigitAlb).

I am starting to get really pissed with the fact we cannot watch all our teams games on tv and have to go scrolling the net looking for a link that works whilst others in some backwards country get to watch the game on tv. I do feel I have a point as I pay Sky a ludicrous fee every year yet can only watch so many games. I would quite happily give up all other teams games in return for all 38 United games.

I hope the next tv deal goes tits up and the premier league go ahead with their PPV channel as they have threatened. At least then we might actually be able to watch every game and should get a discount if you keep watching the same team. They have a similar system here in Spain were every single league match is available via ppv and discounts given etc. They do it in the US with NFL also so I dont see why we cant do it.

You can buy a Sky Italia Card legally for 12 months, they show 9-10 prem league games a week. Cost is about €1300-1400 annually.

They show about 3 premiership games a week here on TVE (Spanish RTE) for free. The crap thing is that one of the games is always a Liverpool game because of the big Spanish connection which is not much use to me unless I want to laugh at my tv for 90mins. I use the the slingbox (which is a gift from god) to watch the rest off of Sky and Setanta. Then the usual scroll the net for a link when United arent on Sky or Setanta.

Yeah there's only so long we can keep scraping results really.

I am not happy with our form at all, well to be frank for the whole season. There are glimmers that we may just kick on and play well (thought we played great against City and Chelsea) but it's just not happened.

The injuries etc will obviously play a part - really looking forward to being able to select our first choice team asap.

We tend not to score more than one in recent league games :)

I just hope they have a bit of a go at us and not sit deep. They're a decent footballing team but can't help but feel they may be doing very little attacking.

We really could do with Ronaldo hitting some sort of form. He may not be my FF captain for the first team this season (since his injury)

    Rio is back.

    Vds
    Neville
    Rio
    Vidic
    O'Shea
    Park
    Carrick
    Ronaldo
    Giggs
    Tevez
    Berbatov

    VDS
    Neville---Rio--Vidic---O'Shea
    Ronaldo--Carrick--Giggs--Park
    Berbatov---Tevez

Very strong line up. Rio's return obviously making the difference at the back, and Park giving some balance on the wings.
