What Spring?

    My Aug A3 is shooting at around 303fps with the hop up off. What spring do you think will give me an extra 20fps?

    So far I have installed a Prometheus 550mm barrel and sealed the hop up with some plumbers tape.

    I am aware that 20fps will make very little difference, but you know how it is. Once you start tinkering, its pretty difficult to stop.

    Depends what spring you have in there at the moment...

    Have you checked the air seal between the piston head and cylinder? And also with the cylinder/cylinder head?

    An extra 20fps is going to be difficult to get without going over 1J, and for the amount of effort you'll put in trying to get it, it wont be worth it. An extra 20fps is not going to give you any more usable range.

    A decent hopup rubber would give you much more noticeable range improvements.

    Just finished, damn that was scary. I broke two teeth on the spur gear, because I didn't install the reverse latch properly, oops :o. It still fires and the rpm has increased dramatically, I guess it wasn't right to begin with?

    It fires at 10fps less than before, but this is probably due to the amount of tape I put on. Ill fix that tomorrow. Ah well at least I learned something new.

    start by cleaning out all the grease from the cylinder and piston head, then lube it with silicone oil. this'll give you a better air seal so a little more power. then the obvious things like the hopup. if your doing upgrades then a gaurder hop is essential. it'll give you a big increase in range but as well as that, its thicker than the normal rubbers so it usually gives a better air seal too.

    what spring is in it at the moment? I find the Promethius MS90 usually puts the V3 gearbox guns at about 320-325 but that can depend on what other upgrades you have done.,

    I cleaned the cylinder and sprayed some silicone oil. I also stretched the O ring and the seal seems perfect.

    The only other modification I have done is change the barrel. Ill be picking up a hop up as well.

    I bought the gun from Eirsoft, so whatever spring it comes with is the one that is in it.

    It has settled back to around 300fps. Ill give that Prometheus spring a shot.
