Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I know no one on here shoots skating but even if you don't, give your opinions from your own point of view about it! (how you would do it)

There not the best though.. the 2nd one has a nice sky.. also view larger.. its much better especially for the 2nd picture.

Its a 5D with a 15mm fisheye.. I was trying to shoot it from far off with a 70 - 300 but the the pocket wizards for the flashes just weren't working from far off.. Im starting to regret buying them.

random you say that, im just about to spend 30 dollars on the gadget infinity v2s which have a 20foot span... which can be modded to a 200 foot span. 10er for a new reciever? Ill have 4 pls!

The shots are sick tho, i love the lighting, but i wouldnt have made the position of it so obvious. I fully intend on taking some rollerblading pics and getting back into the scene myself and sessioning bushy.. with my camera!

i've always liked the look of a flash illuminating from the ramp while someone rips some coping, but its a little more sketchy on the hardware when people are pushing wood compared to rollin

I shoot BMX, which is pretty much the same deal as skating. As much fun as the fisheye is, I think you are overusing it to no overwhelming effect. For me, they are good shots of course, takenat the right moment, lit well but they just look generic with the fisheye. I know I've said it in another post I'e moveed away from shooting fisheye but I've seen an improvement in my shots with composition and lighting. In no means am I disrediting how good the shots are, they just look like alot of shots I've seen before.
You've said the PW's arent working from afar. I said before I usually shoot 400 ISO at 5.6 and abotu 1/16th to 1/32 power on flashes depending on sunlight. I've got 3 flashes but find 2 do the job fiune and use the 3rd fr lighting up street furniture etc....
I kow in skateparks it is really hard to find a good long shot for tricks. I find with long shots, upping the flash output and killing the background/amient works to focus the attention. The thing with fisheye too is you have to try to balance alot more things in the shots.
A constant guide and inspiration are:

They both see things in a whole new direction and keep me inspired!

100% agree with you pete, I was there yesterday giving out that I cant take pictures at a skatepark its annoying and I dont want lurkers in the pictures so the fisheye makes it handier, im bringing the gear out again today so ill get something different if we move away from the park... I would have had a long shot if the PW's were working properly.. Also going to be shooting some BMX with a guy named alan power soon whenever he gets around to not working..

@ red_ice go for the cheapo ones I reckon they will work much better or maybe im doing it wrong.

Alan is a cool guy. He can pretty much do whatever he wants on a bike, big airs, big tricks so he should be good to shoot!

you must be doing it wrong ;p send them back. to go gadget infinity and spend the 30 dollars on getting the v2s, totally worth it from what i've been told. 1 out of every 50 misfire was the estimate and with the v2s its down to 1 out of every 500 or something silly like that. Totally worth it imo.

On reflection of the shots, looking at shot 2 - its really nice.

I quite like the photos Darren, only gripe would be the lack of motion, the 1st one especially seems to be more for a product placement....ie it's too good in a way!
