Problem with memory card on Nokia 3120 classic

Basically my phone memory is full. So I want to use my memory card which is a 2 gig sd card. So i go to "sync and backup" and "create backup" and it tells me "not enough memory on memory card. Backup failed". 2 gigs ffs! Memory card banjoed??
