No, not an evening of beers brewed from iron filings in an old boot but an evening with Squarepusher on April 25th and a chance for us to meet up, put a face to usernames and break our backs trying to dance to Mr. Jenkinson.

    +1

Great start to a Jenkinson collection. And if you're feeling a bit wild purchase Go Plastic aswell. ;)

As I clicked on the link I was hoping it would be that album. Agree with Daddio too about Go Plastic.

I was in feckin town today and actually picked up a couple of CD's in Tower, but no Squarepusher! - Should be back in tomorrow though so will fix it then, cheers. Don't know what has kept me from him all this time!

Actually for a tenner, this is starting quite well, a random purchase today in Tower, have their first album alright but VERY different to this...

I could never get into Mouse On Mars, even when they got Mark E Smith on board.

Their first album is really excellent, completely different to anything they did after from what I have heard anyway... and what I am listening to now is certainly very different... jury out on it still though, only 3 tracks in!

But Vulvaland is a really great album, very chilled.

Edit - 4 tracks in and I had to stop it, that was short lived! FAR too all over the place, ah well.

Dunno which the first one is but I'm gonna chip in and say Autoditacker is my favourite Mouse on Mars album (although I've only heard that and Iahora Tahiti).

Actually forgot I have that Iahora Tahiti too, never really liked that one either. I think I have heard positive reports before alright about Autoditacker. Todays purchase however will gather dust on the shelf where CD's like that end up!

Actually apologies if I've missed this posted somewhere obvious, but where/when are the tickets on sale? And where is the venue?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,135 ✭✭✭✭John

    No
Not on sale yet but I reckon they'll be on tickets.ie as it's a u:mack event. I also reckon it'll be on in Andrew's Lane Theatre based on the trend seen here.

A bit of a Mouse on Mars fan myself ...got into them when collecting the "Trance Europe Express" CD Books ...my entry guide to the wonders of electronic music along with the Virgin Ambient series ..

Love the first two CD's but Idiology has some great production.

Got to see the live around this album ,,had a very strange Female DJ support act ..who did a strip while spinning discs with a p#rn video as the back drop !

Umm, can we move the Beers to a Mouse On Mars gig instead? :D

I think I saw Mouse On Mars at the Sliabh An Iarainn aka Leechrum festival a few years ago, such a great festival!
Smack bang in the middle of nowhere in a field in Leitrim.

i hope it makes a return some year.

I have a funny feeling it's going to be Andrew's Lane aswell - they've had a good string of interesting 'experimental' gigs there (Yoshihide and The Thing gig springs to mind for one).

I'm dying to go but I'm literally broke and I have a conflicting engagement in Galway :( there's still a chance I might go though, if I do I'll PM you Daddio. Otherwise sorry for being so lame.

Would anyone like to tell us how it went? (the gig that is, not the beers-that-didn't-happen :o)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,805 ✭✭✭Setun

    No
Ah yes, the gig! It was excellent, but a bit too short for my liking at 80 minutes - I wanted a 3 hour marathon :P I kind of felt there was something (albeit a very small something) missing from the music end of things aswell. The Hello Everything tracks worked the best live I thought, and that wouldn't really be my favourite album of his. For atmosphere and raw noise though, it was fantastic. People were going insane, it was great!

Hey folks, just wondering if anybody is up for meeting up for a mini-beers? It would be nice to be able to have a chat - and maybe if we did a mix-cd exchange or something aswell? (I've been reminded from the track-a-day thread that there is an infinte amount of music to listen to, and talk about!)
