Im looking at buying a new car up the North and bringing it down South. Has anyone done this, what way does the vat and vrt work with a brand new car? Or has anyone had dealings with an Audi dealer called Agnews in Belfast?

    Cheers.

Agnews would be good honest Ulster folk. You will have no issues there. You would buy the car VAT free in North, you can fill in Form 411, which allows this for non vat registered people. Then you would pay VAT on the purchase price converted into euro using the revenue customs exchange rate for the month in question. You would then pay VRT on car. You can check VRT using revenue calculator.
