I´m looking at buying a Truvativ Holzfeller 2.2
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=31154
and replacing the bash guard with a chainring but when i contacted CRC to ask about the BCD of the chainring i would need to do this they said 104mm,

isn´t that the BCD of a middle ring on a mtb crank, I thought 130mm BCD road crank 110mm for a mtb crank, but i don´t know much in this area which is why I asked in the first place, I´ve tried searching around for answers but my head is now melted,

can anyone give me some advice,
    Cheers.

    On the site "BCD: 64/104mm"

So the smallest ring has its own bolts which are 64. The middle and outer ring share the same bolt holes which are 104. Same as on my Deore crankset

    darn it,

the thing is I´m building up a fixie and had my heart set on that crankset ever since I saw it in Galvanised form on a mates trusty stead,

thing is you can´t get a decent singlespeed chainring thats 104mm and more than 36t, I´m looking for a 48t monster, unless you could point me in the direction of one,

you guys know of any other decent cranks with the Galvanised finish, it looks the dogs in my humble opinion,

Why not check out getting a nice set at a good price andget them stripped and galvanised locally? I'm sure it'd cost very little to galvo somethnig as small as a set of cranks!

I'm thinking of getting mine stripped and powder coated gold, I'd imagine P/Cing would be alot more expensive than galvanising!

Great idea, where you getting your powdercoating done,

can you recommend and MTB cranks with a 110mm or 130mm BCD,

or do you know any road cranks that you can get on a mtb at 54mm chainline,

    http://www.hubjub.co.uk

Email them and they'll tell you the chainline.

yeah I´ve been in contact with hubjub before and I´m getting my chainring and Surly flip flop hub from them, they are great for helping me out with my retarded questions,

I was looking at the Sugino XD but was put off because of two reasons,

1)They don´t have it in 175mm cranks length and I´m a tall guys and 165mm is just too short for me in my opinion,

    2) I thought they had a 47.5mm chainline with a 110mm BB as per Sheldon Brown but now I´m thinking this was chainline from the middle ring as a guy on this thread says he got a 54mm chainline with a 107mm BB http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=266240

so maybe I should go shopping for the Sugino XD elsewhere and see if I can get my hands on a 175mm crank arm, I´ve emailed Hubjub about them getting one but they are on holidays at the moment, and if they are having problems getting 170mm ones then I may be in for a bit of a wait, which wil keep me off the road.

you guys seen any for sale anywhere,

had a look at that Miche Primato number off wiggle but its out of stock too which means more waiting, I really want to get back on the bike in the next 2 weeks cause I´m going mental, anyone any ideas, anything off CRC or anywhere else, eBay even??,

Having 175mm cranks on a fixed-wheel bike increases the chances of hitting your pedals on the ground while cornering. Although this will also depend on your BB height and pedals.

yeah, I´ve been told that before but 5mm isn´t going to be a huge danger in my humble opinion,
but then again it would mean i could get the Stronglight Impacts the have which are really Sugino XD´s with a fancy new name, hmmmmm.... tempting,

I´m going to go read sheldon brown for an hour or two to see what he says about someone who is 6ft4in cranking 170mm arms,

Didn´t take as long as i thought,

¨ I think people really obsess too much about crank length.¨

enough said, if Mr.Brown says its ok then its ok by me,

now if i can just get me some of those POWerwheel´s he was flogging I´ll be home and dry, http://www.sheldonbrown.com/power_wheel.html
