Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

I just bought one of the Canon RC 5's, I'm using a Canon 400D,

Am I able to use the remote in a way that when i press the button it takes a pic.. and if i hold it down it will take continuous shots ?

Or is it just able to work with the timer ?

put the camera into continuous shot mode or burst mode and hold down on the shutter release on the remote.

the remote acts the same way as the shutter release on the camera except it's remote :P

Plus you should be able to "lock" it into position, so it will keep taking shots without you holding it down.

Switch the lens to manual focus and see does it make any difference.

No there is still a 2 second delay.. and it only takes 1 pic.

    I have this one instead of the RC-5 (I have a 400D)

Since the 400D only lets you use a remote in timer mode, it has an immediate shutter button and a 2 second timer shutter (useful if you're taking a photo of yourself). You can also hold down the shutter button and it will take continuous shots.

You can also use it in Manual - Bulb mode where you press it once to open the shutter and again to close it (avoiding camera shake for long exposure)

(please note that although this is the second link to deal extreme that I've posted in as many days, I am not affiliated with them. I just buy stuff from them often enough)

If i hold down the shutter button on the camera it works no problem.. It the remote that wont do it.

So if i get the one you said i should be able to take continuous shots?

I've just come back from testing my remote.

The bad news is, you can't take continuous shots just by holding down the button on it like I thought I could.

However, I was able to take shots rapidly by continuously clicking the button. speed is improved if you switch to manual focus. It's still just slightly (from what I can tell) slower than continuous shooting mode. Have you tried continuously clicking your RC 5?

no i'll try and see what happens... all the other times i've done it there is a 2 second delay from when i press it and when the shot auctally takes... I try the quick pressing now.
