island holiday advice

me and my girlfriend want to go on holidays during the summer, most likely end of august. we were looking at majorca or gran canaries, the idea of an island is appealing with beaches and water sports which i'd like to try out. anybody with experiences of majorca or somewhere else with activities and nice beaches. thanks

there are far better beaches on other balearic or canary islands but tenerife has a ton of outdoor things to do such as quad safari, scuba diving, snorkeling, water sports, sailing yachts, speed boats, dolphin/whale watching, submarine to the bottom of the ocean. tenerife does have some black volcanic beaches and a few sandy beaches on the south-west coast in towns like los cristianos

i keep going back to majorca - love it there. Santa ponsa, palma nova, magaluf if you want the crazy nightlife or head east for secluded coves and beaches with a more family feel. on the north of the island there is Alcudia which has a great long stretch of beach. Most of the larger resorts will offer the water sports you mention.
