Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

^^^ Agreed, I'd have Lineker in myself if I was picking it and maybe Gazza, I'd have Ricky Villa on the bench too.

But I'm not a Spurs fan. Blackburn meself.

Good point but TBH if you are a real supporter of your club knowing the clubs history is part and parcel of being a supporter. For god's sake even the girlfriend who knows next to nothing about football is having a giggle here beside me with someone saying Bobby Charlton is'nt in a best ever man u eleven. Guess times are a changing and all that.

From what I've seen of Keane, there is no other midfielder, dead or alive, who I'd put in my team before him. Now that's my opinion. Is that ok with you? and your girlfriend?

Not surprisingly, there aren't too many relatively recent Leeds players in this team.

    Nigel Martyn

    Paul Reaney
    Norman Hunter
    Jack Charlton
    Paul Madeley

    Gordon Strachan---Billy Bremner (c)----John Giles----Eddie Gray

    Peter Lorimer
    Allan Clarke

    Subs:
    David Harvey
    Lucas Radebe
    Terry Cooper
    Gary McAllister
    David Batty
    Tony Currie
    Tony Yeboah

John Charles was before my time, but by all accounts would be a definite starter in the team had I seen him play.

    Juventus

    Zoff

    Pessotto
    Ferrara
    Cannavaro
    Thuram

    Deschamps

    -Platini
    Nedved

    Zidane

    Del Piero
    Baggio

    Subs:
    Buffon
    Montero
    Zambrotta
    Di Livio
    Conte
    Vialli
    Trezeguet.

Although I've only seen Zoff's finest hour (1982 WC) and very little of Platini players of that calibre are impossible to leave out

    ______________Rush________________

    Bench:
    Reina
    Hughes
    Yeats

    Highway
    Lidell
    Fowler

Leaving out the likes of St. John, Sami, Callaghan etc is so tough but I think it's hard to look past the lads I picked. I've seen enough of them all to have a well based opinion although i'm sure if i'd seen anymore than snippets of Lidell on LFC TV then he'd be in the first team.

I actually think that Yeats would be in ahead of Thompson but Hansen has said that he thinks Big Nose is the best partner he ever had and Hansen is the first name on my list so i go with him! :)

Four of the five midfielders are automatic picks, only Cilff Jones could be left out and he was savage winger in his time, and would be needed to give the side some width.

    C. Ronaldo? Surprising.

:confused:u saying he should or shouldnt be there?

errm, any player that gets world player of the year, being the only in our history, surely deserves to be ranked amongest the greatest in the clubs history? while his attitude and loyalties are being questioned by some fans, you cant deny the past 2 seasons have been as good as any player in the clubs history. here is my stab, ive had to move one our 2 players about and a weird formation to fit everybody in, may not suit everybody but then this is an all time 11 and this is a fantasy team. attacking wing backs of edwards and irwin FTW -

    schmeichel

    edwards vidic bruce irwin

    Ronaldo Charlton Keane Best

    Law Cantona

    Subs -

    Mcgrath
Giggs (could easily have put him in)
    Scholes
    Van Der Sar
    Stiles
    Robson
    Manucho :P

We've had the player you most dislike, like so why not have a best ever eleven from your own club.

    My club: Blackburn Rovers

    Tim Flowers

    Lucas Neill
    Colin Hendry
    Kevin Moran
    Graeme LeSaux

    David Batty

    David Bentley
    Tugay Kerimoglu
    Damien Duff

    Alan Shearer
    Simon Garner

Ripley and Wilcox are a couple of notable absentees there, from my memories of the title-winning Blackburn. Close between the pair of them and Bentley/Duff?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,993 ✭✭✭Trippie

    Rossi

    Tasotti----Baresi----Maldini----

    Rikjkaard
    Gattuso

    ---Massaro---Albertini---Savićević

    Shevchenko --- Van Basten----

I dont want to put Gattuso in but for the sake of the team i think he would have to play to balance out the amount of attacking players I have, Ill have to think about it and find a better replacement for him

I'm well aware of that, but Duffer was fantastic until he left us and Bentley was brilliant for the last couple of years. The fact that he is the only player to score a hattrick against United in the Premier League swayed me in his favour over Ripley but it was a close call. Wilcox was a legend but Duff was extra special for a long time with us. The great Tom Finney had stopped going to football games but returned after watching Duffer a couple of times. He said he had to see him in the flesh. Duffer went downhill rapid after one season at Chelsea. Funny that, himself and Robben had more sick days between them that the rest of the Chelsea squad the second season Duff was there.

I only saw a little of Tardelli and I don't remember Gentille but Cannavaro won the player of the year with us in 2006 so he's hard to ignore. Bettega may deserve a place as well but only ever heard of him

But he won that for his world cup performances not his league form wgich was patchy.

Was that the year where Juve were winning for most of the season and then in the last 10 games nearly gave it to AC? If so his performances in the first half were fairly impressive and the whole team fell apart in the last quarter. He'd definitely deserve a place based on who I've seen. Apart from that the only other change I'd be tempted to make would be to boot Zidane to the bench, make Platini the number 10 and bring in Conte to the right

It was the year when Juventus were stripped of their Serie A trophy for match fixing and were relegated for their cheating ways. :D

It was more getting external influence from referee's. Either way, cheating.

It was picking the referees they wanted for certain matches and if you think that Juve were the only club doing it you're insane. They chose one club to make and example out of and Juve were a better example than Reggina and Fiorentina while AC weren't quite as guilty. Also, the fact that Lucianno Moggi was such a famous figure in Italian football and Gallianni was apparently clean (could be because the inquiry was started under Silvio, just saying) meant that bringing him down would send a much bigger message than Fiorentina or Reginna's directors

I tihnk i prefer 3 at the back and two defensive midfielders, Costacurta while being the model of consistency isnt up the same standard as the other 3
